🔥🔥 We Can’t Control Others, But We Can Control Ourselves 💪✨🔥🔥

Ah, the joys of parenting young adults, a stage no one really prepares you for. You survive the sleepless nights of infancy, the tantrums of toddlerhood, the attitude of the teenage years, and then just when you think you are in the clear, you are faced with a whole new challenge: letting go.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned as a parent (and as a human, really) is that I have absolutely no control over what other people do, say, or think. And let me tell you, that can be infuriating. Especially when it comes to your own children, who you have spent decades nurturing, teaching, and guiding, only for them to go off and make their own (sometimes questionable) decisions.

At times, I have had to bite my tongue so hard I am surprised I still have one. There have been moments where every fibre of my being wanted to jump in, fix things, or set someone straight. But I have learned, often the hard way, that the best response is not always a response. Sometimes, the best thing you can do is walk away.

As the old saying goes, the way to fuel a fire is with more fire. The same applies to disagreements, especially with young adults who are trying to assert their independence. If I meet their frustration with my own, all I am doing is adding fuel to the flames. Instead, I have found that stepping back, taking a breath, and choosing my response (rather than reacting in the heat of the moment) makes all the difference.

This is not just about parenting, it applies to friendships, relationships, and even random encounters with rude strangers. We cannot control how people treat us, but we can control how we respond. And often, the most powerful response is simply not engaging.

So, the next time someone’s behaviour is pushing all your buttons, take a step back. Ask yourself: Is this worth my energy? Is this something I can actually change? Or is my best move to walk away and let the fire burn itself out?

Turns out, peace is not something we get from controlling others, it is something we create by mastering ourselves.

🔥💗CLIENT TESTIMONIAL💗🔥

𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮: AMANDA LAWSON

Lisa Jowett aka Pizza

I’ve known Lisa for 24 years now. Many moons ago we worked in publishing together.

Over the years we got busy and crossed paths on occasions as busy working mums do. In that time I got really fat and felt really old and Lisa as I watched from afar through social media became inspiring.

Don’t get me wrong Lisa has always been a woman I have looked up to not only because her passion for life is infectious but because every time I was with Lisa either at work or out we had fun. She lights up a room and without effort makes you feel so special.

In 2021, possibly at my heaviest and not feeling very amazed with myself for letting life get in the way of me! I reached out on a professional level to see if Lisa could help and what can I say! Wow! Lisa is the real deal, holistic, energised, happy and a motivational woman ready to help in every way I needed.

What started as a phone consult talking about life, what I really wanted to achieve and how I was willing to achieve it unfolded and just like that she was my PT!

Lisa is personable, endlessly kind, fun and always makes me feel valued and appreciated. She also knows her s**t!

If anyone I know is looking for a PT , Lisa is who I would recommend, I would not trust anyone else with my health and well-being as completely as I do with her!

💗Thank you Amanda Panda xo

💪🔥 Why Resistance Training is Essential & How to Start as a Beginner 🏋️‍♀️🦴

Resistance training isn’t just for the gym pros—it’s for everyone, especially as we age! Building muscle and strength is essential for overall health, balance, and staying independent. As we get older, we naturally lose muscle mass and bone density, which can affect our mobility and increase the risk of falls and fractures. Resistance training helps combat this decline by improving muscle mass, boosting bone density, and supporting joint health.

But the importance of muscle goes far beyond just looking strong—it’s crucial for your overall health. 💓 Muscle plays a key role in regulating blood sugar, supporting immune function 🦠, and reducing metabolic risks. It also releases powerful signaling molecules that help lower inflammation and keep your body functioning optimally. Strong muscles don’t just help you move better—they help you live longer and healthier! 🎯

🔑 Focus on Technique First
Strength and muscle development come from consistent, quality reps. When you’re just starting, prioritize learning good form. ✅ Proper technique reduces the risk of injury and sets you up for long-term progress.

⚖️ Avoid Too Many Reps
While it’s tempting to push for high-rep sets, aim for around 10 reps per set to start. High-rep sets (especially 15 or more) can lead to fatigue before you’ve mastered the movements, causing your form to slip. ❌ You don’t want to just “get through” the reps—focus on executing each one correctly. Quality over quantity!

🧠 Smarter Training Works Better
It’s not just about doing more reps—it’s about training effectively. 🎯 To build strength, your muscles need to be challenged with enough resistance (weight). For muscle growth, a combination of resistance and overall workload (sets, reps, and weight) matters more than just doing endless reps. Instead of exhausting yourself with high-rep sets, focus on controlled, quality movements with a weight that challenges you while maintaining good form. Train smarter, not harder! 🚀

🔥💥 Waiting to feel ready? Don’t. 💥🔥

How many times have you told yourself, “I’ll start when I feel more confident, when I have more time, when the stars align”? The truth is, that feeling of readiness may never come. And if you wait for it, you’ll stay stuck exactly where you are.

The most successful people aren’t fearless or magically “ready.” They just start anyway—before they feel prepared, before they have all the answers, before they’re sure they won’t fail. Because here’s the secret: action creates readiness, not the other way around.

💪 Want to get stronger? Start lifting—your muscles don’t care if you feel “ready.” Every rep makes you stronger, both physically and mentally.
🥗 Want to eat healthier? Make one better choice today—ditch the all-or-nothing mindset. One high-protein, high-fibre meal won’t change everything, but it’s a step in the right direction.
💘 Want to start dating again? Stop overthinking it—say yes to that coffee date, join a dating app, or simply smile at someone new. Confidence grows with action, not waiting for the “perfect” time.
✨ Want to feel more confident? Take action before you believe in yourself—confidence isn’t something you wait for, it’s something you build through doing. Show up for yourself, and self-belief will follow.
😴 Want better sleep and more energy? Start winding down earlier—turn off the screens, sip some tea, breathe deeply. Rest isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity.

Your mind will always come up with excuses to keep you in your comfort zone. It’ll whisper, “Not today,” or “Maybe next week.” But guess what? That little voice is lying to you.

🚀 Your job is to take action anyway. Even if you don’t feel ready. Even if you don’t have all the answers. Just start.

So this week, challenge yourself: What’s ONE thing you’ve been waiting to feel “ready” for? Do it today. Take the first step, no matter how small. The momentum will follow.

🔥 You’ve got this. And if you need a push, consider this it. 💪

📦🍏🥄 How to Read Food Labels the Right Way: Don’t Get Fooled by the Packaging!

If you’re looking to eat healthily, here’s the first thing you should know: if it’s telling you it’s healthy, it probably isn’t. Let me explain. Actual healthy, unprocessed foods like meat, fruit, and veg don’t come with a label. They don’t need one. These are the foods that will fuel your body the best, and they’re the ones you should be focusing on.

When it comes to packaged foods, it’s easy to get sucked in by flashy labels and bold claims. But just because a product says "low-fat," "high-protein," or "packed with nutrients" doesn’t make it the healthy choice you think it is. That’s where the label reading comes in handy – it’s your way of cutting through the marketing fluff.

🧐 What to Look for on the Label

Ingredients List – If you’re buying packaged food, always start by reading the ingredients. The fewer, the better. If you don’t recognise most of the ingredients, or if you see a long list of chemicals and preservatives, that’s a red flag.

Hidden Sugars – Sugar hides in all sorts of products, even ones you wouldn’t expect. A "healthy" breakfast bar might have as much sugar as a chocolate bar. Don’t be fooled by the words “fruit juice concentrate” or “natural sweeteners” – they’re still sugar.

Fats and Oils – Don’t be tricked by the "low-fat" label. Sometimes, they replace healthy fats with inflammatory oils like vegetable oil or trans fats. Always read the ingredients to see if you're getting the real deal.

Salt – Processed foods often contain a ton of salt. A seemingly innocent packet of soup could have more salt than a bag of crisps! Always check the sodium content.

🚨 The Dangers of Processed Snacks

Even things that sound healthy can be processed and loaded with ingredients you don’t need. Here are some common culprits:

Granola Bars – Marketed as a great snack, but often full of added sugars and unhealthy oils. You might as well grab a chocolate bar for all the goodness it’s offering!

Low-fat Yoghurt – Low-fat options are usually packed with sugar to make up for the lack of fat. Opt for full-fat, plain yoghurt, which is a much better choice.

Fruit Juices – While they may say "100% fruit juice," they can still be full of sugar and have little nutritional value compared to whole fruit. Whole fruits come with fibre, which you won’t find in the juice.

⚠️ The Star Rating Scam
Let’s not forget the "Australian star rating" system. It might make you think a product is a healthy choice, but it’s often misleading. For example, a packet of crackers with a 5-star rating might seem like a healthy snack, but when you check the ingredients, you’ll find sugar, preservatives, and refined grains – not exactly the wholesome choice you’re looking for.

💡 The Bottom Line
When you’re looking to eat healthily, stick to foods that don’t come with a label. Real, whole foods like fresh vegetables, fruit, and meats are always the healthiest options. When you do buy packaged foods, be sure to read the labels carefully, and don’t fall for marketing tricks. Always go for the products with fewer ingredients, and avoid anything that looks too processed or full of hidden sugars and unhealthy fats.

🌼✨ Midlife Calm: From Anxiety to Serenity 🌸🧘‍♀️🌟

Real Talk
Let's have an honest conversation about midlife. This stage of life is filled with both challenges and opportunities. For many of us, including myself, anxiety can hit hard during these years. The sleepless nights are exacerbated, and so is the brain fog and lack of focus. Whether it’s dealing with family dynamics, personal shifts, or financial stress, like the time my husband lost his business, midlife has a way of shaking things up.

Understanding Anxiety
Anxiety doesn’t mean you’re weak or inadequate. It’s very real and can manifest as those late-night worries or restlessness that keep you from embracing each day. Admitting that you're feeling anxious is a powerful first step—we're talking about acknowledging it without judgment.

The Holistic Approach
To tackle anxiety, I’ve found that a holistic approach works wonders. This means really taking care of ourselves from the inside out. For me, it was about finding routines that nurtured my mental and physical well-being through mindfulness, regular movement, and nourishing my body with wholesome foods.

Lean Into Support
And here's something crucial: you don’t have to do this alone. Finding a community or reaching out to friends and loved ones can make a world of difference. Personally, I found that talking about my struggles opened up new pathways of understanding and support.

Your Next Move
If you’re navigating the ups and downs of midlife and are seeking a path to manage anxiety, my eBook, "Calm in the Chaos: A Holistic Guide for Midlife Women to Reduce Anxiety," can be your companion. It’s filled with practical strategies that have been lifesavers for me and can help you regain peace and balance.

💪🔥 Why Lifting Weights is Non Negotiable If You Want to Live a Long Strong and Independent Life 🏋️‍♀️✨

Lifting weights isn’t just for gym junkies. It’s for everyone, no matter your age or gender. Yet there’s still this ridiculous idea floating around that women don’t need to lift. Wrong.

If you were born in the 70s like me or you're over 40 you’ll remember that women rarely did weights. It was all about aerobics, being skinny and basically destroying our muscle mass. We weren’t told to get strong we were told to get small.
And then there’s the myth that once you hit a certain age you should avoid strength training. Also wrong.

Here’s the deal. Strength training isn’t just important as you age, it’s non negotiable.

You’ve probably heard of fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibres. Well, explosive power – the kind that keeps you quick on your feet – comes from type 2 muscle fibres. And guess what? The hallmark of ageing is the loss of those fibres.

Picture this. You’re 80 years old, stepping off a curb and you stumble. If you don’t have the power to react quickly, you hit the pavement. That’s how injuries happen. Not because of “old age”, but because people stop training the muscles that keep them strong and quick.

But here’s the great news. We can actually build muscle at any age. 🏋️‍♀️💪 Science has proven it. There have been many studies showing that even people in their 70s, 80s and beyond can gain strength and muscle mass with the right training. It’s never too late to start.

So let’s get one thing straight. Lifting heavy isn’t optional. It’s essential. At every age.

If you’re not lifting yet but want to start, drop your fave emoji ⬇️ or DM me and we’ll book a time to chat! 💪🔥🚀

Our Story

Hey there! I’m Lisa, a mother of two and I understand how busy people’s lives can be - that’s why I created BusyBods. My goal is to show my clients how easy it can be to be fit and healthy.

I don’t believe in quick fixes, fad diets or 6-week bikini body programs. Instead, I like to take a holistic approach and give you the tools you need to make positive and sustainable choices for optimal health in a safe, friendly and supportive environment.

I believe that most people want to be fit and healthy but either don’t know where to start or believe it’s going to be too difficult. I want to show people how easy it is to eat healthy, without spending too much time in the kitchen and without breaking the bank. With a combination of healthy eating and some resistance training anyone can look and feel good.

If you learn how to cook and prepare in bulk, eating well becomes effortless. Yes it does take some organisation and preparation time but so does driving up to the the local take away store. Trust me it’s faster to reheat your premade meal than to go through the Macca’s drive through. In time you will learn to be well organised and it will become a breeze!

I also believe eating well is more sustainable if you can include some of your favourite treats, the key is to not over indulge. After all you want to be able to enjoy some of lifes pleasures without feeling guilty.

A healthy lifestyle has both short and long term health benefits. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Long term, eating a balanced diet, taking regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can add years to your life and reduce the risk of certain diseases including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and obesity. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In the short-term it can also make you feel and look your best, give you more energy and help you maintain a healthy weight.⁣⁣

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
