Let’s talk about event dates and overlap for a moment.
Recently someone commented, “Shame it’s on the same date as another event” — and the truth is… this absolutely happens.
Even within the same city, let alone the same state, there are often multiple events happening across the same weekend. Sometimes they’re completely different with little to no overlap in stall holders or customers. Other times there *is* overlap — and that can become really difficult for both small businesses and the communities supporting them.
I’ve spoken openly before about how important it is to create opportunities where small businesses and customers can attend and support as many events as possible without feeling like they’re competing for market share or forced to choose between communities they love.
But there’s also another side to this.
When events span across multiple states, it becomes incredibly hard to be aware of every single event happening on every weekend. Stall holders travel interstate. Customers travel interstate too — I know because I’m one of them.
Sometimes being aware matters. Sometimes overlap can be avoided. And sometimes despite everyone’s best intentions… overlap simply happens.
When it does, I think the most important thing is openness and transparency. Honest conversations. Respect. Understanding that no one can see every moving piece behind the scenes.
Because at the end of the day, we all want the same thing — thriving events, supported small businesses and communities that continue to grow together. 🤍
Have you ever had two events you wanted to attend fall on the same weekend?

Let’s talk openly about mental health. ❤️
Recently, many of the posts CLA has shared have raised conversations around mental health and the impact subjects like reporting, anti-competitive behaviour, gossip, bullying, and community conflict can have on the people involved.
Today I wanted to speak honestly about the mental health toll CLA has experienced first-hand.
I’ve been bullied, lied to, gossiped about, attacked online, verbally harassed, and had posts repeatedly reported. Even this week, I was told a story about how apparently I’m going to forgive someone who treated Nonna terribly. I found that confronting because people often create narratives around situations they aren’t part of.
I’ve been called horrible names online and had entire videos sent my way filled with expletives — words we don’t even allow in our household.
And while some people dismiss these things as “just online drama,” they’re not.
They create stress. Anxiety. Hurt. Exhaustion.
They take a toll not only on me, but on my family too — including my daughter and Nonna. There are times when it genuinely makes it difficult to keep going.
And if this is happening to community pages, I can only imagine what many small businesses are carrying behind closed doors when similar things happen through competition, exclusion, gossip, or targeted behaviour. The stories I’ve been told over time have honestly been heartbreaking.
Mental health is a very real issue within this industry.
Behind every account, business page, and profile photo is a real person. A person with a family, feelings, struggles, responsibilities, and a life outside social media.
Maybe it’s time we talked more openly about the impact our words and actions can have.
Have you ever experienced the mental health impact of business or community pressures? ❤️

Supporting community isn’t just sharing posts or shopping small. In CLA, community looks a little different.
It means my inbox is open.
It means I listen.
It means I act.
It means I don’t judge.
It means I lend a helping hand.
There’s so much that happens behind the scenes that I rarely talk about. Not because it isn’t important, but because support isn’t about recognition. Yet I do use some of those moments to raise awareness because I think we need to talk more openly about what small business life really looks like.
From the outside, many businesses can look like they have it all together. Perfect posts. Consistent content. Smiling faces. Business booming.
But behind the scenes? There can be overwhelm, burnout, financial pressure, self-doubt, family responsibilities, tears, stress and moments of quietly wondering if you can keep going.
And asking for help can sometimes feel like failure.
But what if we changed that?
Let’s normalise talking about the hard days as much as we celebrate the wins. Let’s normalise saying “I’m struggling with…” Let’s normalise asking for a helping hand, a pushed post, an extra like, a comment, advice or support.
Because there is SO much knowledge in this community and I guarantee there are businesses who have walked the path before you and have some absolute pearlers waiting to be shared.
Community isn’t just showing up for the highlight reel. It’s showing up for each other when things feel messy too ❤️
What’s one thing you’ve struggled with in business that someone else might have advice on?

There is something so special about taking time to intentionally create something with meaning ✨
Recently I attended the beautiful bracelet manifestation event hosted by Mayuri by Varrsha, and it was such a lovely experience. Slowing down, being present, and creating a manifestation bracelet by hand felt like so much more than making jewellery — it felt like creating a daily reminder of purpose, intention, and possibility.
As small business owners, we wear so many hats. We are dreamers, creators, risk takers, problem solvers and believers. We constantly strive for growth, prosperity and success, while pouring our hearts into what we do every single day.
Creating this bracelet made me think about all of the attributes we carry as business owners — resilience, passion, courage, patience and determination. It also made me reflect on what we all hope for: success in our endeavours, whatever that success looks like for each of us.
Now I have something I can wear every day that serves as a reminder — not just of the beautiful experience itself, but of the intentions behind it. A little wearable reminder to keep believing, keep creating and keep moving forward.
Sometimes manifestations are not just wishes… they are reminders of who we are becoming 💫
Have you ever created a manifestation tool, vision board or meaningful item that keeps you focused on your goals? I’d love to hear about it ❤️
