Should you write for free? 🤔The debate is everywhere.

Some say 'never,' but as a beginner, that advice can keep you from getting started.

When I started copywriting at 21, my first two projects were completely free.

One led to a $3,500 project, and the other led to a year and a half of consistent client referrals.

The real goal isn't free work—it's a strategic move to build a valuable portfolio, gain real-world experience, and create a network that leads to a full pipeline of paid work.

So, if you're just starting out, don't be afraid to take on a few strategic, free projects. It's the fastest way to get to where you want to be.

Ever get frustrated with ChatGPT giving you bland, robotic content? You are not alone. It feels like the content is too embarrassing to publish.

The truth is, many people do not know what information to give AI to get the best results. Think of it like this: ChatGPT is a chef. It needs the right ingredients to cook up a beautiful dish.

To get truly quality content, you need to provide a comprehensive prompt with all the essential details. You are essentially giving your chef all the right ingredients.

I have developed a prompt template that works really well:

"write a ( # # #-word) (type of copy) about (product/service) for (target audience), using a (tone of voice) tone. The goal is to (desired outcome). Highlight (key points or features to include)."

Here is an example of how to use it:

"write a (200-word) (email newsletter) about (freelance copywriting course) for (aspiring writers), using an (encouraging) tone. The goal is to (get sign-ups for a free webinar). Highlight (flexible hours, earning potential, and portfolio building)."
