SFGA is Australia’s first Gatka group, established in 2005. The akhara has participated in numerous community events...
...Some of these are; the annual Vasaikhi Nagar Kirtan in the Sydney CBD, Holla Mohalla celebrations in Darling Harbour and Blacktown City Festival. SFGA also hosts a Gatka Competition every year in September. Weekly Gatka classes are held at Glenwood and Revesby Gurduara Sahibs. We recently had the honour of having Giani Sher Singh over for a visit at our Akhara on the last leg of his Australian tour. Giani Ji shared some wise words on the history of Shastar Vidya, and how reading Baani and doing Nitnem plays a crucial part in our path to becoming Saint Soldiers. One of our instructors was lucky enough to have a quick Gatka session with him towards the end of the night! All in all, it was an amazing night for all students, with many taking away some good insights and feeling more inspired than ever!
