It’s that time of year again, time to plan your Christmas Day menu! This has been our choice every year now since the 1980s when I went vegetarian, I then veganised it in 2011 and it’s still a crowd pleaser! We serve it with mushroom gravy, link to the roast recipe and gravy recipe in 1 st comment. ❤️

Added another dressing yesterday. This one is a bit more labour intensive but once you’ve made the nectar you can also use it for other things ❤️👍🏼
Red Pepper Nectar Vinaigrette
Ever since I discovered Red Pepper Nectar (see my Red Pepper Pesto recipe) I have been experimenting with it. It makes a deliciously delicate but aromatic salad dressing. Red Pepper Nectar Vinaigre…

Below is a list of some of my best weight loss winter meals, as requested. (almost all of my recipes are low calorie density so this isn't a conclusive list). Most people tend to think "salad" when weight loss is their focus. However salad dressings can be rich, with added nuts and seeds and avocado and therefore overly calorific so wintery dishes are a better choice - stews, casseroles, curries and soup can be very satiating and tend to naturally avoid those higher fat ingredients. The thing to think of is "wet starches" - that is starches that are cooked by absorption such as brown rice, quinoa, oats, and even wholemeal pasta; and steer clear of the dry ones which use dehydrated grains such as breads and breakfast cereals. And not forgetting of course the beloved potatoes, especially mashed, steamed or included in the above kind of dishes.
The legume family is also high in starch and also is very satisfying; it has been discovered that eating lentils for example in one meal tends to decrease the volume of food eaten in the next meal (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3205742/) so add lentils and beans to your soups, curries and stews!
- Winter Bake
- French Style Lentil & Vegetable Stew
- Savoy Cabbage & Red Lentil Stew
- Minestrone
- Mediterranean Lentil, Eggplant & Mushroom Ragout
- Thai Curried Lentils
- Chana Saag Aloo
- Mushroom, Leek & Potato Gratin
- Savoury Lentils
Hope this helps! :) Keep those questions coming.

Just added another sauce / dressing:
Lemon, Soy & Tahini Dressing
I have always loved this tangy, salty, creamy sauce! Using miso, sesame flour, and soy milk I have managed to significantly reduce the fat in this more-ish sauce. A little goes a long way,…
