NICS is a unique P-12 school located on Norfolk Island, approximately 1400km east of Byron Bay in the South Pacific.

Our school works in close partnership with our community to provide educational, sporting and cultural experiences.

🌏💚 Year 8 Geography Field Study with KAVHA 💚🌏

A huge thank you to Tom and Heather from KAVHA for generously sharing their knowledge and expertise with our Year 8 Geography students! 🗺️🌿

Students had the opportunity to learn more about the formation of Norfolk Island, as well as the different types of rocks, landforms and geological features that make our island so unique. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect classroom learning with the remarkable natural environment right on our doorstep.

A special thank you to Tom for creating the incredible contour maps of Norfolk Island for our students. These maps were thoughtfully and carefully put together and are an outstanding resource that we will continue to use as we develop our mapping and geographical skills in the classroom.

We were lucky enough to enjoy great weather for almost the entire session... until the rain arrived right at the very end! 🌧️ With a quick dash back to the bus, we didn't manage to capture a photo in the field, so instead we're sharing a photo back at school with some of the wonderful maps and resources provided by KAVHA.

Thank you again to Tom, Heather and the team at KAVHA for sharing your time, knowledge and resources with our students. We are incredibly fortunate to have access to such rich local expertise and to be able to bring learning to life through the incredible landscapes, history and environment of Norfolk Island. 🌿🌏✨

🌈🎨 COLOUR RUN IS FINALLY HERE! 🎨🌈

The countdown is on for our much-anticipated Colour Run this Friday 18 September (Week 10)! We can't wait to celebrate the end of Term 3 with a fun-filled afternoon of colour, laughter and school spirit. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🌈

📅 Friday 18 September
⏰ 1:30pm – 2:50pm
💰 $3 to participate

✅ A few reminders before the big day: 👕 Bring a white shirt to change into for maximum colour fun!
📝 If you haven't returned your permission form and $3 payment, please do so as soon as possible.
🥤 $5 slushies will be available for purchase at lunch and during the event.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone get colourful and create some fantastic memories as we wrap up another wonderful term together! 🌈✨

⚽ After School Soccer Program Wrap-Up ⚽

Our After School Soccer Program for Prep to Year 2 has now come to an end. What a fantastic few weeks it has been!

A big thank you to our wonderful staff for giving their time to facilitate our after school sports soccer program. Your commitment and enthusiasm have helped make this opportunity possible for our students.

It has been a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop their soccer skills, teamwork, communication, coordination, fitness and confidence, while having fun and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship throughout the program.

We have loved seeing the students' growth, participation and positive attitudes each week, and we are incredibly proud of the effort they have shown both on and off the field.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing support and encouragement. We look forward to providing more opportunities for our students to stay active, learn new skills and enjoy sport together in the future!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ FREE RUNNING WORKSHOPS THIS WEEK! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

We are excited to welcome back former NICS student Dayne O'Hara, who will be running FREE after-school athletics and running workshops this week!

Dayne is a Level 3 World Athletics Coach and Level 2 Coach Educator, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to help participants improve their athletic skills, fitness, and confidence.

Learn and refine the fundamental skills of athletics while having fun and challenging yourself.

From sprinting to recreational running, discover techniques to help you run faster, stronger, and for longer.

A Friday workshop may also be offered if there is enough interest, so come along and show your support!

🌟 This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from an experienced coach and former NICS student. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age or experience level.

Is your child starting Prep at Norfolk Island Central School in 2027?

We warmly invite families to attend our 2027 Prep Parent Information Session to learn more about starting school, meet our Prep team, collect enrolment information, and hear some helpful tips to support a smooth transition to school.

🎓✨ Career Market Week is coming to NICS! ✨🎓

In Week 9, Norfolk Island Central School, in partnership with the Country Universities Centre (CUC), will be celebrating Career Market Week 2026, providing students with exciting opportunities to explore future pathways, careers, training options, and higher education opportunities.

From dressing up as your future self, meeting local emergency services, immersive VR career experiences, industry tours, university presentations, career information evenings, and our highly anticipated Career Market Day, there is something for every age group to inspire dreams and future goals.

A huge thank you to our staff, local businesses, industry representatives, community organisations, and CUC for helping make this incredible week possible. Together, we're helping our students discover the many opportunities available to them and encouraging them to imagine what their future could look like.

📢 Friendly Reminder for Families

Please note that Friday, 4 September 2026 is a Pupil Free Day.

On this day, our staff will be participating in professional learning activities, and students are not required to attend school.

⚠️ There will be no student supervision available on site, so we kindly ask families to make alternative care arrangements for their children.

We appreciate your support as our staff continue their professional learning to enhance the educational experiences of all students.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, 7 September 2026.
