**ENVIRO NICS** started in 2021, and this year we recognised the important work our student leaders do, with the induction taking place during last weekβs assembly. Our students were presented with badges to acknowledge and confirm their important leadership role within our school community. π±π

A huge congratulations also to **Norfolk House**, who were announced as the winners of this yearβs Cross Country Carnival! πβ€οΈ Well done to all students who participated and contributed to a fantastic carnival.

π Senior Tour Update β Friday, Saturday & Sunday π
Our Senior Tour students have enjoyed another few fantastic days filled with learning, experiences, fun and plenty of memorable moments!
π **Friday** was a busy and exciting day exploring future pathways and opportunities. Students toured Southbank TAFE, student accommodation, Griffith University Film School and the Conservatorium of Music, where we caught up with Abby Dixon and watched second-year students practising their final performance under the guidance of their director.
The afternoon included time exploring the Queensland Museum before everyone came together for a family dinner at the YHA to celebrate Oggyβs birthday, complete with a party organised by Noah. The evening wrapped up with card games and plenty of laughs upstairs.
ποΈ **Saturday** was all about some well-earned downtime, with students heading to Chermside Shopping Centre where there was plenty of shopping and, by all reports, plenty of money spent!
π―οΈ **Sunday** began with a moving and unforgettable visit to the Holocaust Museum. Students had the incredible opportunity to hear from Rochy, a second-generation Holocaust survivor, who shared her motherβs story of surviving the Holocaust. It was a powerful and meaningful experience for everyone.
The afternoon shifted gears with some friendly competition at go-karting. Congratulations to Callum for taking first place, followed by Lukas in second and Noah in third.
To finish off the night, students put their housekeeping skills to the test in a room cleaning competition judged on presentation, scent and tidiness. Congratulations to Daniel, Issac and Seb, whose towel swans and fresh cologne aroma secured them the win! π¦’β¨
Another amazing few days on Senior Tour creating memories, building connections and experiencing opportunities beyond the classroom.

π **Senior Tour 2026 β Thursday 21 May**
Thursday was another fantastic day on Senior Tour, packed with opportunities, exploration and unforgettable experiences.
Students attended the **Careers Festival**, networking with exhibitors and discovering future pathways and opportunities. As Lola reflected, *βso much cool free stuff!β* πβ¨
The afternoon provided some downtime, with many students took the chance to get a fit for **MJ The Musical**.
And then came the highlight of the day β the musical itself. πΆ
What a performance! The morning was great, but the musical absolutely *Beat It!* Not everyone thought it would be their *Jam*, but by the end, students were up dancing and fully embracing the energy of the show. Some *Dangerous* moves may have appeared, but thankfully there was no *Blood on the Dance Floor*.
There is no doubt many students will *Say Say Say* and *Remember the Time* when reflecting on todayβs experiences.
Another incredible day creating memories, exploring possibilities and sharing experiences together. π

π **Senior Tour 2026 β Day 2 | Wednesday 20 May**
A tale of two teams and another incredible day of learning, exploration and shared experiences for our Year 11 students on Senior Tour.
π§ **Team Ogg** headed to Acacia Ridge TAFE Trade School for a hands-on day exploring future pathways and industry opportunities.
Students navigated Brisbaneβs public transport system before arriving at TAFE, where they were warmly welcomed by Bernie and her team. They explored the impressive 22-hectare training facility, visiting learning areas including carpentry, refrigeration, plumbing, automotive, engineering, tiling, painting, boiler making, electrical and many more trade pathways.
Students contributed to *The Reconciliation Journey* mosaic project, experienced virtual reality welding training, and enjoyed practical trade experiences throughout the day. A major highlight was the dyno tuning experience, creating plenty of excitement and smiles.
After another transport adventure back into the city, students walked through South Bank and admired modern art installations before returning to accommodation after a rewarding and memorable day.
π§ **Team Tazellard** exercised both brains and bodies while travelling to UQ and QUT to participate in a human disease and psychology workshop, along with a *Home Alone* themed legal moot challenge.
Students investigated fascinating specimens ranging from parasitised brain worms to diseased feet and everything in between.
At the QUT Moot Court Challenge, students stepped confidently into legal roles, presenting arguments and working collaboratively through a mock burglary case involving the infamous *Home Alone* duo, Marv and Harry. We could not be prouder of how well our students represented our school community through teamwork, confidence and professionalism.
π³ The evening brought everyone back together at Strike for bowling, laser tag and escape rooms, where there was plenty of friendly competition, laughter and teamwork before finishing the night with a well-earned Yo-Chi treat.
Another rewarding day spent learning, exploring opportunities and building connections together. We are incredibly proud of our amazing students and staff. π
