A community-engaged learning program that connects students with remote and rural enterprises in Aus
The Remote and Rural Enterprise (RARE) Program is an outreach activity of the Innovation and Enterprise Program at the University of Sydney Business School. It facilitates two-way learning between students and remote and rural enterprises and communities. We recognise entrepreneurship to be a powerful change agent, with the potential to positively impact our remote and rural communities' most pre
ssing economic and social challenges. Students apply their skills to support the development of a remote business through action-research projects requiring extensive consultation and engagement with the community and stakeholders. This hands-on experience in rich socio-cultural settings fosters professional and personal growth. Most important is the social and cultural awareness, and curiosity and adaptive thinking students develop. RARE collaborates with multiple stakeholders across government, industry, communities, the not-for-profit sector, foundations, students, entrepreneurs and academics. Our diverse and expansive network contribute significant value to all RARE participants. This group aims facilitate the growth of this network and spawn new relationships and opportunities between passionate and driven individuals who care about Australia's remote and rural communities.
