International Student Agency Study, career and visa counselling for International Students! We help you with your career plan & visa application!

29/05/2026

📊 South Australia continues to prioritise skilled sectors such as Healthcare, Education, Engineering, and Trades as the 2025–26 financial year approaches its final stage.

For international students considering studying in Australia, this highlights an important long-term trend:
👉 Choosing the right degree and study destination strategically can create stronger future career opportunities after graduation.

Adelaide and South Australia are becoming increasingly attractive for students seeking:
✨ More affordable living costs compared to larger cities
✨ Strong industry demand across priority sectors
✨ Quality universities with strengths in Education, Health, Engineering, IT, and Trades

However, course selection should never be based solely on migration trends. A strong study plan should also consider:
• Academic background
• English level
• Career interests and strengths
• Long-term professional goals

📩 If you are considering studying in Adelaide or would like personalised guidance on course selection in Australia, contact iae GLOBAL for a one-on-one consultation with our education advisors.

Starting from 24 August 2026, students who complete a Master’s degree (Level 9) in New Zealand can receive enough points to apply for PR directly after graduation — without needing years of work experience first.

Australia Budget 2026–27: What International Students Need to Know

The Australian Federal Budget has just been released, and the message is clear: Quality over Quantity. The government is tightening the reins while rewarding high-skilled, high-achieving applicants.

Here are the major takeaways for our international student community:

1. Permanent Residency (PR) Caps Stay Steady
The Migration Program remains at 185,000 places.

The Good News: Over 70% of these seats are reserved for the Skilled Stream.

The Shift: Focus is moving Onshore. Roughly 130,000 places are for those already living and working in Australia. If you are already here studying, you are in the preferred lane!

2. A Massive "Points Test" Changes📝
For the first time since 2012, the Points Test (for Visas 189, 190, and 491) is getting a makeover.

What’s trending up: High English scores (PTE 79+ / IELTS 8), youth, and high-level qualifications.

What’s trending down: Regional work history may carry less weight.

Timeline: New rules are expected by December 2026. If you’ve already received an invite, don’t worry—you’re safe under the old rules!

3. Faster Skills Assessments for Trades 🛠️
The government is injecting $85.2 million to fast-track skills recognition.

Targeting construction, electrical, and mechanical trades.

The goal is to get qualified workers into jobs 6 months faster. If you are studying a trade, your path to the workforce just got shorter.

4. Tougher Student Visa Scrutiny 🔍
$19.8 million is being spent to increase "integrity checks."

Expect more rigorous vetting for both onshore and offshore applications.

Pro Tip: High-quality documentation is no longer optional—it’s a requirement. Double-check your GTE (Genuine Temporary Entrant) requirements!

💡 Questions about how these points affect your specific course? Drop a comment below or contact us for a consultation!

A lot of students choose PTE thinking it’s the “easier option”…
but end up retaking the test multiple times.

It’s not because your English isn’t good enough.
It’s because PTE has changed.

❌ It’s no longer just about tips and templates.
With stricter scoring (especially in Speaking & Writing), things like pronunciation, fluency, logic, and real language ability now matter much more.

Old methods? They just don’t work the same anymore.

❌ That’s why many students get stuck in this cycle:
Study → Retake → Still not enough → Repeat

You need the right strategy, understand how PTE is actually scored, and get real feedback on your speaking.
