If you’re feeling nervous about joining a ride… you’re not alone 💛
In fact, most women who come along tell us they felt exactly the same.
Here’s what we want you to know:
🌱 Nervous means you care
It doesn’t mean you’re not ready — it means you’re doing something new.
🚲 You won’t be the only beginner
There’s always someone on their first ride, first lesson, or first time back after years.
⏸️ You’re allowed to go slow
You can walk your bike, stop often, or just watch and listen. Participation looks different for everyone.
👂 We listen first
Our ride leaders check in, explain what’s happening, and adapt to the group — not the other way around.
🤍 There’s no pressure to be “good”
This isn’t a performance. No one is timing you. No one is judging your skills.
✨ Confidence grows by showing up
Most women finish their first ride saying:
“I’m so glad I came.”
💬 You don’t need to feel confident before you arrive —
That’s what Her Cycling Connections is here for.
📅 March rides & free lessons now open
🚲 Monthly social rides: first Monday of each month
If this post made you exhale a little… you’re ready 💛
👉 Come ride with us.

Bikes. Brekkie. Confidence.
Not everyone wants group rides—so we support 1:1, meeting riders where they’re at.

Love seeing this Outdoors-aligned momentum from Parramatta River Catchment Group (PRCG) — Rights of Nature, embedding First Nations knowledge, stewardship, and climate resilience — is exactly the kind of priority that strengthens how we experience the outdoors, close to home.
🚲 We’re taking this into action through our “Our Living River” bike rides — follow us for the next ride date + come be part of the stewardship on the ground.

New article out: What if our kids' cycling infrastructure starts too late? Road safety tracks are brilliant — but many communities are missing the simplest piece: flat, calm beginner spaces where kids can learn balance and braking before “rules and roads.” This is an inclusion and equity issue for anxious and late learners, and it’s foundational for long-term active transport. Have a read and tell me — does your area have a true “Stage 1” learning space?
What if our “kids cycling infrastructure” starts too late? Why not design learning-to-ride as a progression — not a single asset?
I spent today delivering children’s cycling skills sessions with a local council — and it left me with a question I can’t shake: What if the infrastructure we’re proud of starts too late? And why not design learning- to -ride as a progression, not a single asset? Across many council areas, I...

✨ Looking ahead to 2026 ✨
As we step into a new year, Addventageous Bike Community | Parramatta Bike Hub is proud to reaffirm our commitment to supporting a healthier, more connected Parramatta through cycling, walking and inclusive active transport.
In recent weeks, we’ve lodged our community-informed submission to Council, sharing what we hear every day from families, schools, seniors, women, CALD communities and everyday riders across the LGA. Our focus remains simple: making it easier for people of all ages and abilities to move confidently through their neighbourhoods and into the city.
🚲 What 2026 looks like for us:
• Building on the success of the Transformers eBike Project (87 EOIs, 42 participants across the LGA)
• Celebrating Ride to School with four local primary schools in March
• Continuing Her Cycling Connections with monthly lessons and social rides for women
• Reporting on our inaugural Kids Riding for Positive Mental Health school holiday program
• Welcoming back Adults Riding for Positive Mental Health from April
• Creating ongoing opportunities for the community voice to be heard through advisory panels with Council and Sydney Olympic Park
We’re excited about what’s ahead and grateful to work alongside our community, partners and local leaders to turn big ideas into everyday opportunities.
If you have feedback, ideas, or want to get involved in 2026 — we’d love to hear from you 💬
Here’s to another year of riding together 🚴♀️💙
