Last night in Canberra was a pretty special one for financial literacy.
We had the privilege of attending the launch of Friends of Financial Literacy, and it was fantastic to see people from across finance, education, industry and government coming together around something I believe passionately in: Financial literacy is life education.
A huge thank you to Naveen Ahluwalia and Anja Pannek for the invitation, and to the MFAA - Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) for helping bring this important conversation into the room.
I also had the opportunity to meet with Senator Richard Dowling and talk about the work we are doing through Financial Literacy Education (FLE) and our FIT Solutions program.
We spoke about something very close to our hearts, getting practical financial education to young Australians before they enter the financial system, rather than waiting until they experience the consequences of decisions they may never have been taught to understand.
Through FIT Solutions, we are taking practical financial education directly into Australian schools, covering budgeting, savings and interest, credit reporting, mortgages and superannuation.
And we are doing it at a scale that is growing rapidly.
We now have 87 schools booked nationally, around 100 educators and a significant waitlist for 2027.
The opportunity ahead is enormous.
But nights like last night remind us that this isn't just about one program or one organisation.
It's about building a financially capable Australia, where young people have the knowledge, confidence and skills to make informed decisions about their future.
There is so much more work to do, and Iβm excited to be part of the conversation.
Thank you again to everyone involved in bringing the financial literacy community together in Canberra. π
