A father’s lessons can stay with you long after he’s gone.

One of those lessons was making time to give back. Bassem Salem made the food run a priority every Friday, even during the 2 years he was battling cancer.

When we leave this world, what we leave behind is the good we’ve done and the lives we’ve touched. That is part of Bassem’s legacy.

It’s a lesson for each and every one of us: what legacy will we leave behind?

May Allah accept the sadaqah on Bassem’s behalf, forgive him and have mercy on him.

Allah yerhamo.

Today we remember our brother Bassem Salem.

He gave his time, his effort and a lot of himself to this work, right from the early days of Marree Connection.

It means a lot to us that we can continue something he was part of building, and this food run is just one small way of keeping that going.

May Allah accept every bit of good Bassem did, accept this sadaqah on his behalf, forgive him and have mercy on him.

May Allah allow the work he helped start to continue and may he receive the reward for it long after he has left this world.

Allahumma ameen.
