ADC updates!
𝟏- 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦.
Critical errors occur when a candidate performs either
-an incorrect procedure, or
-a correct procedure at an incorrect site.
While a critical error may not lead to an overall failure for the cluster that is being assessed, it does lead to a ‘fail’ score for the task or station where the error was made as the procedure was not completed in accordance with the instructions provided.
𝟐- 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐀𝐃𝐂 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞.
𝟑- 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞.
The changeover time at the end of each OSCE station is 1 minute. No changes will be made to either the reading time or the examination time, which remain 3 minutes and 10 minutes respectively. Candidates also receive extra rest breaks during their circuits.
𝟒- 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬/𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥.
This is not true. Each attempt is marked individually, and no comparison happens. The work that you do is what determines your mark, not the work of other candidates.
𝟓- 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐃𝐂 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬.
The ADC’s priority is to uphold public safety in Australia. Our aim is to ensure that candidates who complete our process can demonstrate they meet the professional competencies of the newly graduated dental practitioner from an Australian program, and are safe to practise in the Australian context.
The ADC is a not-for-profit organisation, and that means that any fees we collect are used to cover costs associated with the delivery of our services, as well as the maintenance and upgrade of our Examination Centre equipment to ensure candidates are provided with the best opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.
