Winter in Australia just got better.

The 2026 HSBC Spanish & Latin American Film Festival is coming — 29 years of bringing our stories to the big screen.

Over 30 films from Spain, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru... and more.

-Think culinary dramas that will make you hungry (MISTURA with Bárbara Mori).
-Think thrillers that grip you (THE TIGERS — maritime suspense that hits different).
-Think historical epics about artists finding their voice (THE CAPTIVE — young Cervantes before Don Quixote).
-Think salsa documentaries celebrating the heartbeat of New York and Cali (LA SALSA VIVE).
-Think heartfelt stories about small communities healing through music (BAND TOGETHER).
-Think comedies that make you laugh and feel (MY FRIEND EVA, ANOTHER LEAGUE about the girls who changed women's football in Spain).
-Think 25-year anniversary retrospective of Spanish cinema classics (THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE).

And think love stories with Gael García Bernal (NOTHING BETWEEN US) that remind you why connection matters.

Here's what I'm doing:

There's something extraordinary about sitting down with an artist who has dedicated years to his craft.

Yesterday, I had that privilege with Carlos Barrios at his Artist Talk at Art Atrium Gallery — the closing of his exhibition.

Carlos shared something that stayed with me:

"I lose myself when I create. I don't control any decision. I just connect with the voices of my inner instincts and let inspiration flow."

And you can see it in his work.

Each piece tells a story. Each one carries his Salvadoran roots, his 30+ years in Australia, the ancient Central American art his archaeologist father introduced him to as a child.

What struck me most was watching people connect with his art — clients, curators, collectors — each finding their own meaning.

Different interpretations. Same essence: humanity, emotion, experience.

This is why I do what I do with FM El Podcast.

To share artists like Carlos who are creating, building, thriving in Australia without losing who he is.

Because our stories deserve to be told.
And our art deserves to be seen.

Thank you, Carlos, for sharing your world with us.
