❄️ Heading into winter is honestly one of the BEST times to service your inflatable lifejacket.

Most people chuck them in a hatch, forget about them for 12 months, then hope for the best when things go sideways on the water… not ideal 😂

We’ve just serviced all the inflatable lifejackets from the BoatWise training vessel, so here’s a super simple step by step guide so you can check yours at home 👇

✅ 1. Check the expiry dates
Look over the gas cylinder, firing cartridge, and servicing tag. If anything is expired, replace it.

✅ 2. Inspect the outer cover
Check for salt build up, mould, UV damage, broken zips, corrosion, or wear and tear.

✅ 3. Inflate the bladder manually
Use the oral inflation tube and fully inflate the jacket.

✅ 4. Leave it overnight
If it loses pressure or goes soft, there’s likely a leak somewhere.

✅ 5. Inspect the CO₂ cylinder
Unscrew it and check for rust, corrosion, dents, or punctures. Make sure it hasn’t already been activated.

✅ 6. Check the firing mechanism
Most jackets have a green indicator showing it’s armed correctly. If it’s red or expired, replace the components.

✅ 7. Inspect straps and buckles
Check stitching, clips, waist straps, and crotch straps for damage or fraying.

✅ 8. Repack it properly
Deflate slowly through the oral tube and fold it back exactly how the manufacturer recommends.

✅ 9. Store it correctly
Keep it dry, ventilated, and out of direct sunlight. Don’t leave it wet in the boat.

Your inflatable lifejacket is one bit of gear you NEVER want failing when you actually need it.

A 10 minute check now could genuinely save your life later.

Stay safe legends! 👍⚓️

If getting your boat licence still feels confusing… you’re probably being sold half the job. 🤷‍♂️

I see it all the time.

People come to me after doing just the theory and paying full price… still needing the practical, still not confident, still not ready to actually handle a boat.

That’s not how this should work.

At BoatWise, we keep it simple:
✔️ Full boat licence in 1 day
✔️ Theory + practical together
✔️ No logbook
✔️ No extra testing

You walk away knowing what you’re doing, not just holding a piece of paper.

Don’t waste time bouncing between providers or doing half a course.

Do it once. Do it properly.

DM “LICENCE” or hit the link in bio and lock your spot in.

We’ve just stepped up the BoatWise training boat with a Vulcan 6kg anchor and the difference is on another level. ⚓️

First drop, instant set. Every time. No dragging, no second attempts. It bites hard and holds which is exactly what you want when you’re teaching proper anchoring and building real confidence on the water.

This is the standard we train to. Gear that performs and techniques that work in the real world.

Big thanks to Fabien at for sorting us out. If you’re serious about upgrading your ground tackle or dialling in your setup, those guys will point you in the right direction.

If you’re not confident anchoring your boat, give us a call. We’ll jump on board with you, dial in your technique, and assess your tackle to make sure it’s actually up to the job. 👍

It’s not every day we get to train the bride on her wedding day…

Just joking. We brought Nabila down from the Hawkesbury to Sydney Harbour and lined her up at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron for something pretty special.
Drive-by ceremony, tight approach, everything timed to the second.
Flags up, “Just Married” flying, and not a single thing out of place.

That’s the difference between hoping it works… and knowing it will.

BoatWise is always here to help. 👍

Congratulations crew!! 🥂

Retired. New boat. Dream unlocked.🔓

Now we turn uncertainty into control.

Because it’s not just about driving the boat
It’s understanding everything that makes it work

⚓ Onboard systems
🌬 Wind & current
🚤 Power management
🪢 Knots, ropes & fenders
⚓ Anchoring & picking up a swing mooring
📐 Engine trim & trim tabs
🧭 Docking under pressure

We break it down step by step, at your pace
So you’re not second guessing every move… you’re in command

This is where hesitation turns into confidence
And confidence turns into actually enjoying the boat
