Scott's small smattering of recorded preaching is now available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts under 'Comfort in Close Reading'.
Scott has no delusions about his oratorical skills or of being a 'platform speaker' (whatever that means, anyway); God willing, he is faithful to the text!!! There are 3 series, all from the Covid-era.
- Ruth: Is God Absent?
- Gathered: What Is Church?
- Matthew 13-21: Discipleship in the Shadow of the Cross
This was was a bit of a labour of love to make some preaching available to a few friends who are unable to attend church just now (whether through infirmity or as victims of abuse) but had asked for some preaching.
Please pray that it might provide some comfort to them - and maybe to others also. It still surprises us just who, exactly, we discover was listening in to this preaching during Covid-19 lockdowns!
If you know anyone who might benefit from some 'ordinary' preaching - please let them know this exists.

https://scriptorium.net.au is the publication library of Scott & Emma Newling. We're currently populating the site with past material ahead of formal launch, but would love you to take a look at the education (Emma), OT (Scott) & pastoral-theological projects we have planned.

The medieval scriptoria were Bible-copying chambers and repositories of Christian knowledge; they were often fundamental to monasteries where they supported the training of ministers and missionaries. Under God, their libraries were a key means of guarding the knowledge of God in Europe over many centuries.
We're really glad you've made it to this particular place of writing. While the medium has changed, we pray this 'scriptorium' serves you, here and now, in the same way the scriptoria did for God's people there and then.
