Wonderful to have students and alumni from NIDA and Australian Film Television and Radio School together for our annual Speed Networking event, co-hosted by two of Australia’s leading screen, radio and performing arts institutions. It was an evening of connection, conversation and creative exchange, bringing emerging and established artists together across film, television, theatre, live performance and creative practice. We are always pleased to provide a space to strengthen the creative networks of Australians in the performing arts industries and hope all of our attendees left with new connections and inspiration.

What does it mean to lead through art and community? For Gustaff H. Iskandar, cultural leadership is about creating spaces where ideas, people and possibilities can meet. Teik-Kim Pok (Cultural Leadership, 2018) and Laura Turner (Cultural Leadership, 2026) said it best - NIDA's Master of Fine Arts, Cultural Leadership supports industry leaders with a national community of like-minded creatives, learning from different practices, perspectives and experiences. Heather Mitchell (Acting, 1980) says she still calls on the voice work she learned at NIDA to this day.

Heather has previously won a Logie for Most Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role in the hit drama series Love Me.

Tonight, the actress was in the running for a Supporting Actress Logie once again. This time for her portrayal of Ella Evans in The Narrow Road to the Deep North.

NIDA Alumni, and Artful Dodger cast mates, Nicholas Burton (Acting, 2018) and Vivienne Awosoga (Acting, 2018) share their advice to future acting graduates.

While they may not have seen The Artful Dodger win a Logie tonight, the work doesn’t stop for these two. Production for a third and final season of the show is scheduled to begin in Sydney soon.

“Just live!” says NIDA Alum, Tuuli Narkle 💗

Joining us on the Logies red carpet, Tuuli (Acting, 2018) was up for Best Lead Actress in a Drama for her portrayal of young Mary Allen in Mystery Road: Origin.

While she lost out to fellow actress Deborah Mailman tonight, her advice to young actors is a recipe for success. Tuuli won an AACTA award previously in 2022 for the same role.

RFDS takes home the Logie for Best Drama!

Rob Collins (Acting, 2013) is also nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Drama at tonight’s Logie Awards for his role as Dr. Wayne Yates.

His advice to actors entering the industry? Never forget the person who first fell in love with it all.
