Book Fair brought so much excitement into the room as the children explored stories, characters, and imagination in such a fun and engaging way 📚✨ Alongside this, we’ve been strengthening our numeracy skills through hands-on learning, counting activities, and playful group experiences 🔢💛 It’s been beautiful watching the children stay curious, focused, and proud of what they’re discovering each day.

This week at IWK, our children engaged in a meaningful ANZAC Day experience, working together to create red poppies and black poppies using delicate collage techniques. Through gluing and layering thin materials, they explored creativity while developing fine motor skills and collaboration.

As we created, we introduced the significance of the poppy as a symbol of remembrance, helping children begin to understand the importance of honouring those who served. In an age-appropriate way, we focused on themes of respect, gratitude, and community encouraging children to reflect on caring for others and working together peacefully.

These shared moments not only support artistic expression but also lay the foundations for empathy, cultural awareness, and a sense of belonging within our wider community.

Today in Marrickville, our little learners explored time through creative clock making 🕒 drawing, imagining, and expressing their own ideas in unique ways
We also dove into the wonders of the human body ❤️
From grabbing, placing and labelling different body parts to learning what’s inside us, the children were busy identifying, discovering and making connections
Hands on learning, big questions and lots of “aha” moments 💡

This week at Inner West Kids Marrickville, our little learners and their families came together to create unique, colourful Easter hats for our annual Easter Hat Parade! 🎨🐰

It was wonderful to see creativity, collaboration, and lots of smiles as children proudly showcased their designs. Every hat was one of a kind, a true reflection of each child’s personality and imagination.

This means more flexibility for busy families, more opportunities for children to play, learn and connect, and more time for fun-filled experiences in a warm, nurturing environment 💛

This week our educators visited Reverse Garbage to collect exciting recycled materials for our play based learning program. These loose parts spark creativity, problem solving, and imagination while helping children understand sustainability in a hands on way.

Celebrating Strong Family and Community Connections at Inner West Kids

At Inner West Kids Marrickville, we believe that when community is at the heart of our service, learning, curiosity, confidence and connection all flourish. Our recent visit to the Australian Museum showed how powerful learning becomes when grounded in real experiences.

The children explored with genuine curiosity, bringing classroom concepts to life and reflecting the thoughtful pedagogy that guides our approach.
