👒🚫 Can you really catch head lice from borrowed helmets, school-play wigs, or your mate's hat? 🤔

While the internet might make you think so, the truth is that the chances are incredibly slim. 🕵️‍♀️ There's been some debate in the scientific community, but most credible sources now agree that transmission via hats and other objects is very unlikely.

🔬 In a study by Rick Speare from James Cook University (2000), over 1000 hats were examined in four schools simultaneously with students being checked for head lice. The result? No head lice in those hats, but over 5500 found on the students' heads! 🧢🦗 This suggests that the odds of head lice transmission through hats are quite low.

So, it's improbable that your head covering is the source of an infestation. But if you want to take extra precautions after treatment, you can wash the hat at temperatures over 60°C or bag it for 48 hours, ensuring those pesky lice won't survive. 🧺🔥
