𝗕𝗣𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗞𝗜 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗞 & 𝗧𝗜𝗣𝗦
In the lead up to this year's BPS exam on Friday 2 May, here is a BPS Anki deck and tips from Fawaz from our PathSoc committee who successfully passed the exam in 2024:
"The exam is pretty straightforward. Yes, there are some specific details that will be asked in the exam, but most of the content is about pathology content that you should know. Check the curriculum for the BPS.
⭐️ Post-exam workflow reflections:
1. Watch the videos for a wide overview
2. Read the corresponding Robbins chapter
3a. Do the Anki deck to cover all the points (and do more interesting study!)
3b. Go to the question banks to cover only the big points
⭐️ Videos to accompany Robbins as you read each chapters
- I read the relevant Robbins chapters on my laptop, and I personally found it hard to read because the text is small, and the information is packed tight. If I had a bigger monitor, perhaps it would help with reading, but I find supplementing my reading with videos that I can find online easier:
• (https://www.pathologycentral.org/) (Robbins Videos category provides chapter by chapter overview of the key points)
• (https://www.medicalschoolpathology.com/) (Also a chapter-by-chapter overview of Robbins, but done in a more casual tone. The speaker has a lot of experience in the world of academia, pathology, and seems to be an anti-vaxxer (he has interesting thoughts about his life here and there). Otherwise, his pathology content is solid. You need to check which videos correspond to which Robbins chapter)
⭐️ Anki deck
(https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o3NEXWPQ7uzoWeeDCcjit21vtERFJFdj/view?usp=sharing) - I made this collection of Anki decks, and it is without a doubt overkill. Essentially, there doesn't seem to be an Anki deck that has been made for each chapter of Robbins. However, there are flashcard decks on Brainscape of the complete Robbins Pathology. What I have essentially done is exported the best-looking decks from there into excel files and compiled them together into an Anki deck. Note that there are not picture attachments for most of the cards, but there are some pictures from Robbins which I've placed for some of them. Additionally, I have inserted the Robbins Flash Cards into the deck. I would choose which decks and chapters to unsuspend from each depending on what style of questions fit you best.
⭐️ Question banks
• Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology - I found this accompanying review book to Robbins essential in the latter part of study. (https://www.amazon.com.au/Robbins-Cotran-Review-Pathology-Edward/dp/0323640222)
• WebPath - This website hosted by the University of Utah contains general pathology questions which, while not as complex as the Robbins Review book, attacks you with simple must-know bits. (https://webpath.med.utah.edu/EXAM/MULTGEN/examidx.htm)"
