📚✨ What a fantastic Book Week celebration!

A huge thank you to our students, staff and families for making today's event so special. The creativity and effort that went into the costumes were absolutely amazing, and it was wonderful to see so many families join us for the parade and celebrations. We had a special visit from Roo from Paint the Swan REaD!

Seeing our school community come together to celebrate the joy of reading was truly heartwarming. Thank you for helping make Book Week such a memorable occasion! 📖❤️Education WA

Our Year 1/2 students were busy getting hands-on with data and graphs today! 🔢📈

Using practical materials, they explored how to collect, organise and represent information, making their learning interactive, visual and lots of fun! 🤩

It’s wonderful to see our young learners developing their mathematical thinking while working together, investigating and making sense of data. 💡👏

💚 Bullying. No Way! Week: When Your Child May Be Bullying Others

As we wrap up Bullying. No Way! Week, it's important to remember that bullying prevention is everyone's responsibility.

Hearing that your child may be bullying others can be difficult. It's natural to feel upset or defensive, but it's important to remember that children are still learning and growing. With guidance, support and clear expectations, bullying behaviours can be changed.

Sometimes these behaviours can be linked to difficulties with managing emotions, developing empathy, building friendships or wanting to fit in. Our role is to help children learn positive and respectful ways to interact with others.

How to respond

💭 Stay curious, not angry Ask questions such as, "Can you help me understand what's been happening?"

❤️ Talk about empathy Encourage your child to think about how their actions may have affected someone else.

✅ Set clear expectations Let them know that kindness, fairness and respect are expected at home, school and in the community.

🤝 Guide them to repair harm Discuss ways they can make things right, such as apologising or taking positive actions to rebuild trust.

🏫 Work with the school Schools and families working together can provide the best support for positive behaviour change.

Getting Help

If your child is experiencing bullying, or if you're concerned about bullying behaviour, support is available.

Talk to the school and ask about supports and strategies in place.
For online bullying, save evidence, block and report the behaviour, and visit esafety.gov.au.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 000.

💬 Bullying. No Way! Week: How to Respond When Your Child Opens Up

If your child shares concerns about bullying, how you respond can make a huge difference. Children are often unsure about what will happen when they speak up, and this uncertainty can sometimes stop them from seeking help.

By responding calmly, listening carefully and involving your child in the process, you can help them feel safe, supported and empowered.

What can parents and caregivers do?

👂 Listen first Find a quiet time and place where your child feels comfortable. Give them your full attention and allow them to tell their story without interruptions.

❓ Ask calm, gentle questions Once they've finished talking, ask questions to better understand what has happened. Try to stay calm and avoid jumping straight to solutions.

❤️ Acknowledge their feelings Let your child know that their feelings are valid.

You might say: "I can see this is really upsetting for you." "I understand why you're feeling worried about going to school."

🛡️ Help them feel safe Reassure your child that they are not alone and that you will work together to make things better.

🤝 Include them in the plan Experiencing bullying can leave children feeling powerless. Involving them in decisions about what happens next can help rebuild their confidence and sense of control.

🌱 Support their recovery Along with addressing the bullying itself, focus on your child's overall wellbeing. Encourage positive coping strategies, maintain routines and help them stay connected to supportive friends, family members and activities they enjoy.
