Yesterday we officially opened our Yarning Circle, a space for students, staff and community to come together, learn and connect.

Thank you to Aunty Di Ryder OAM for her Welcome to Country and Neil Coyne for the Smoking Ceremony. We were honoured to have Steve Catania MLA officially open the Yarning Circle.

Our students led the ceremony with confidence and respect. A special thank you to Derek for playing the didgeridoo and Anthony for dancing.

Thank you to our Aboriginal Education Team for their work on this project, and to Community Bank Mundaring and Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport for the funding that made the Yarning Circle possible. We look forward to the learning and conversations it will hold for years to come.

On the weekend, Warhammer Club members Hunter (Year 9), Michael (Year 11) and Jacob (Year 12) joined Ms Hutton and Mr Serafini for a visit to the Warhammer Perth store.

Students built the Miniature of the Month, participated in a workshop to learn how to effectively use contrast paints and put their skills to the test in a game of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team against the store manager.

We’re proud to report that our Warhammer Club members claimed the victory!

It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop their creativity, strategic thinking and teamwork while connecting over their shared passion for Warhammer.

Congratulations, Gladstone back-to-back champions! 💚🏆

Gladstone has claimed the Athletics Carnival championship for the second year in a row!

A fantastic effort from every student who competed, supported their teammates and demonstrated our DARE values throughout the day.

And a big congratulations also to our runners-up and individual champions on their outstanding achievements.

The Polly Farmer Foundation Maali Bakers tried their hand at making Fremantle Dockers cannoli this week – and what a delicious result!

They also took on the massive challenge of making marshmallows from scratch. In true Freo spirit, they were purple, of course! The marshmallows were the perfect treat in our break-time hot chocolates and became the key ingredient in the students’ first attempt at rocky road.

Our Maali Bakers had the honour of creating their signature cinnamon myrtle cookies for guests attending the launch of The Polly Farmer Story.

The day before the event, students worked diligently along the production line, adding the final touches to each cookie. The design was inspired directly by the book cover, featuring one of Polly Farmer’s famous leaps for the mark.

The result was a memorable cookie that looked fantastic and tasted even better! Congratulations to our talented Maali Bakers on representing our school with pride.

Ten of our Stars students travelled to Kalgoorlie to compete in the annual Stars Netball Carnival on Tuesday 25 August.

On the first day the girls delivered an outstanding performance, finishing the netball competition undefeated and proudly bringing the shield home for the year!

the following day the students spent time on Country, where they watched Elders dig for honey ants and enjoyed connecting with their peers and newly made friends.

We are incredibly proud of the girls for their teamwork, respectful conduct and the grace they showed in victory. They represented Stars and Swan View Senior High School in an extraordinary way. ⭐
