Is Your Workplace First Aid Compliant? Here’s What You Need to Know in 2025 11/06/2025

🩹 First aid compliance isn’t the most exciting topic. I get it.
It’s not flashy. It doesn’t drive sales. It’s not going to win you a workplace award.

But after 25+ years in paediatric and emergency care—and now running
workplace first aid training across Australia, I can tell you this:
👉 When something goes wrong, the only thing that matters is how prepared you are.
Most of the time, first aid is treated like a boring box-tick.
✔ Book a course.
✔ File the cert.
✔ Move on.

But here’s what many businesses don’t realise:
WHS laws have changed (again) in 2025

Non-compliance = fines and penalties

And in real emergencies, untrained staff = real consequences

If your team isn’t trained, your kits are out of date, or your first aid signage is missing, it’s not just risky, it’s a legal problem waiting to happen.

That’s why I wrote this quick, no-fluff guide to first aid compliance in 2025:

Let’s get compliant before something goes wrong.

Is Your Workplace First Aid Compliant? Here’s What You Need to Know in 2025 When was the last time you reviewed your workplace first aid procedures? In 2025, keeping your business aligned with the latest WHS first aid requirements in Australia isn’t just best practice—it’s a legal responsibility.

🚨 Never Too Young to Learn CPR! 💪🏼👦🏼⚽

Over the weekend, our team at The First Aid Nest had the absolute pleasure of running a CPR stand at the Pagewood Botany Football Club’s Annual Dimi Day—and what a day it was!

Hundreds of children (yes, hundreds!) stepped up, rolled up their sleeves, and learned how to save a life. From chest compressions to calling for help, these young legends blew us away with their focus, energy, and curiosity.

👶🏼 Because CPR isn’t just for adults.
👦🏼 It’s never too early to learn.
💡 And every child trained is one more potential life-saver in the world.

Whether you’re a childcare centre, a school, or a corporate team looking to build life-saving confidence in your people—we’re here to help.

We bring energy, education, and expertise wherever we go. And we don’t just tick boxes—we make training memorable.

💸 Workplace Injuries Are Costing Your Business—Here’s How to Stop the Bleed

Workplace injuries are costing Australian businesses an astonishing $28.6 billion annually (Safe Work Australia, 2023).

That’s an average of $1,790 per employee each year, impacting:
⚠️ Lost productivity due to downtime
⚠️ Increased insurance premiums
⚠️ Medical expenses and compensation claims

These figures aren’t just numbers—they’re a wake-up call. Many of these costs can be prevented by fostering a safer, more prepared workplace.

The Facts:
⚠️ Slips, trips, and falls remain the leading cause of workplace injuries.
⚠️ 90% of sudden cardiac arrests are fatal without immediate intervention.
⚠️ Workplaces with trained first aiders reduce recovery time and improve outcomes for injured employees.

What Can You Do?
Investing in first aid training not only ensures compliance with WHS regulations but also significantly reduces injury-related costs. When employees are trained to act confidently during emergencies, the financial and emotional toll on your business decreases.

💡 Tip: First aid training is an upfront investment that saves money—and lives—long-term.

Anaphylaxis in an Adult: Symptoms and First Aid 08/10/2024

🚨 Did you know? Adult anaphylaxis is more common than you might think! 🤔

While we often associate severe allergic reactions with children, the reality is that thousands of adults experience life-threatening allergic reactions each year. 🧑‍⚕️ Whether it’s from food, insect stings, or medications, anaphylaxis can happen at any time—and knowing what to do can literally save a life.

Here are a few eye-opening facts about adult anaphylaxis: 1️⃣ It’s not just peanuts! While food allergies are a major trigger, many adults develop allergies to things like shellfish, medications (hello, antibiotics!), and even exercise. Yep, that’s a thing! 🏃‍♂️

2️⃣ Anaphylaxis isn’t predictable: Even if you've eaten that shrimp dish a hundred times, your next bite could cause a reaction. Allergies can develop at any age, so always be aware of any changes in how your body reacts to certain foods or medications.

3️⃣ Timing is everything: When anaphylaxis hits, it can escalate fast. Recognizing the signs early—like hives, swelling, trouble breathing—and acting quickly with an EpiPen can be life-saving. ⏳

If you’re managing allergies (or know someone who is), it’s essential to know the steps to take in case of anaphylaxis. This isn’t about fear—it’s about being prepared and staying safe. 💪

Have you or someone you know had an unexpected allergic reaction as an adult?
