Juanita Field, Juanita is the Marie Claire Australia Creative Director. When she’s not making the pages of our print mag look spectacular, she likes to travel and write about it for us. She has worked in the magazine industry for most of her career, with a background in fashion and beauty, as well as travel and lifestyle.

In this special edition of Architecture Club we lead you through the process of preparing and creating a professional visual portfolio. Led by Architecture Club’s Louise O’Brien, students will learn the steps needed for your next creative career move, whether it be Architecture, Visual Communication or Interior Design.

The workshop is suitable for students (year 10 and upwards) who may require a portfolio as part of an application process for University, Tafe or a potential job, but also for anyone who wants to have a go at putting their creative ideas into a professional portfolio format.

Participants will be given a series of activities to get their creative juices flowing and then get to work with the team through each individual portfolio. The day concludes with a short presentation moment for group feedback and suggestions.

Participants will need to bring their computer and camera. Come prepared to create great content and a smashing submission!

Great talk at UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture
by Daniel Aldrich stating the key to resilence after significant events is community! Sounds so simple. Not concrete barriers, bridges or airports!! Small meeting rooms for the community to connect! Listen up governments!

Come create this Saturday at Sydney Opera House 2-5pm , Sails as Sunshades Saturday 21 September 2024, such a fun day of creativity and camaraderie.

As Sydney becomes hotter our suburbs will require more shade. In this workshop in groups, we will create Urban canopies inspired by Utzon’s love of sailboats and being out on the water. We will consider ecology, the importance of water and shade infrastructure as we reimagine the future of Sydney. This will be an Innovative Materials challenge.

Its where the magic happens, open to all ages and experience.

Worried about your university admission portfolio application? Join us at the Architecture Club Louise, a registered architect and educator who has assisted many students successfully in preparing their university application. Suitable for art, architecture, interior architecture students. Students will need to bring their computer and camera. The day will consist of mini workshops to build your portfolio content and workshop time to design and develop, concluding with a short verbal presentation for group feedback. Come prepared to create great content and a smashing submission.

Saturday 17 August 2024 Utzon in the Forest

This workshop is inspired by Jørn Utzon's love and influence from his local forest in Hellebaek. You will draw inspiration from biophilia design (connecting building occupants more closely to nature), geometry and recent timber and bamboo architecture in Sydney and throughout Asia.

Saturday 6 April 2024 Utzon’s Footsteps
Jørn Utzon was a keen and eclectic traveller who creatively interpreted the world he saw. Travel around the world with Utzon as we explore his influences and passions for exotic cultures and history. A deep dive into his less famous works such as The Bagsvaerd Church (1976) & National Assembly Kuwait.
