Hey guys, as you may be aware, Helen and I rebranded Connection Education last year to be Calmer Kids. We felt the new name reflected more what we do: help stressed out kids to learn (and stressed out parents and teachers to hep them!). If you haven't followed the updated page yet, check it out :-)

We'll be closing this page soon. Thank you to those of you who joined this early on and have been with us from the start on this exciting journey of bringing calm to the lives of kids and schools.

We are so excited to be able to announce our rebrand as Calmer Kids!
We’ve been busy the past 10 months developing our services and products to perfectly align with the Australian Curriculum and support schools with finding the balance between learning and wellbeing.
To mark the start of this exciting new chapter we have changed our name to Calmer Kids. We love our new logo and hope you do too.
Here’s to schools and educators working together to create calm, mindful classrooms where learning and wellbeing really can go hand in hand!🤗

So needed! Great to see changes being made.

Most of the time, when children act out by kicking and screaming expletives, it is because they do not understand what they are going through, and cannot find a better way to release their feelings.

By changing the way you breathe, you can change the way your body is experiencing stress. In fact, even just one minute of deep breathing can literally change your biology.

Breathing as a way to cope with stress is one of the many topics discussed in the latest podcast - in which I am interviewed for an event at the Scottish Parliament by Annie Wells MSP: www.drchatterjee.com/83

We talk about how breathing is information. The more stressed you feel, the faster you breathe, and your brain will notice this and read it as a signal that things are not going well. The reverse of this rule is also true: if you breathe slowly, you’re giving your brain a signal that you’re in a place of calm. You will start to feel less stressed.

The 3-4-5 breathing technique is a simple exercise that I often use and have used with many of my patients (and with the audience at the Scottish Parliament!). It couldn’t be easier. Just breathe in for three seconds, hold for four and then breathe out for five. It’s easy to remember and even easier to do.
