Sometimes it's about slowing down and focusing on just one thing at a time.

Just like stacking rocks, each small action requires patience, presence, and intention. One rock at a time, something strong begins to take shape.

Life can feel overwhelming when we try to balance everything at once. But when we focus on the step in front of us, we create space for confidence, resilience, and growth.

We're so excited to officially welcome Brie to the AZUR family! 💙

With a background in childcare, Brie brings patience, compassion, and an incredible ability to connect with people. But that's only part of her story...

When she's not supporting others, you'll find her charging waves, out spearfishing, or chasing her next adventure. She is passionate about her christian faith and has a genuine love for the ocean and believes in the positive impact it can have on both mental and physical wellbeing.

Brie brings endless enthusiasm, kindness, and a huge heart to every session. Her adventurous spirit, combined with her caring nature, makes her an amazing addition to the AZUR team.

Surfing is just one of the ways we connect with the ocean. At AZUR, every session is tailored to you, your goals, your interests, and what feels right for you.

Whether that’s a beach walk, snorkelling, surf skating, rock pooling, ocean mindfulness, or simply sitting by the water and taking it all in, we’ll meet you where you’re at.

Our sessions are inspired by the Blue Mind Theory—the idea that being in, on, near, or under water can have a positive impact on our mental health and wellbeing. The ocean has a unique way of helping us slow down, regulate our emotions, reduce stress, and reconnect with both nature and ourselves.

You don’t need to be a surfer to experience the benefits of ocean therapy. If you have a love for the ocean—or are simply curious to explore it—we’d love to support you on your journey. 💙🌊🌞

Have you ever noticed how simply looking at the ocean can calm you down? 🌊

When life feels overwhelming, anxious, loud, or emotionally heavy… there’s something about water that makes you pause for a second and just breathe.

I notice this all the time with my clients. Sometimes before we even get in the water, you can physically see the shift happen just by sitting at the beach. Their shoulders relax. Their breathing slows. Their nervous system softens.

And there’s actually science behind it 💙

Looking at water helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system — the part responsible for rest, calm, and emotional regulation. The movement of waves, the colour blue, the sounds of the ocean and even the horizon line can help reduce stress, lower anxiety, and create a feeling of safety and grounding.

It’s one of the reasons ocean and surf therapy can be so powerful for mental health, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and nervous system support.

Sometimes healing doesn’t start with talking.

Research from my own thesis, alongside existing studies, highlights that surf therapy can positively impact both social and cognitive development. Participants often leave programs with increased self-belief, improved patience, and a stronger sense of control over their lives. With the right support and a safe environment, surfing can empower young people to overcome challenges and grow beyond their circumstances. ❤️
