Mooloolaba Walk to School Day 2026 was another great success with hundreds of students walking to school. The school captains and student council did an amazing job meeting the children at the gate and issuing competition entry forms and distributing stickers and tattoos. Our amazing teacher aides worked tirelessly to prepare healthy breakfasts for the kids with goodies purchased from the $250 Woolworths voucher we were awarded.

The media attended and spoke with staff and students regarding their involvement in the day.

Footage will screen tonight on:-

• WIN News Sunshine Coast airs weeknights at 5:30 PM on Channels 8 and 80 (HD)
• 7 Local News- Sunshine coast- 6p.m.

Thank you to all staff, children and families for making the morning such a great success.

Year 4 students investigated forces affecting CO2 dragsters with Mr Wockner on Thursday and learned how understanding these forces helps to build faster CO2 dragsters. The children were presented with a block of balsa wood, attached to a guiding fishing line and were surprised that a CO2 soda stream bulb would push the block the whole length of the 20m track without wheels. Students studied the effects of adding wheels, reducing mass of the dragster and friction at the point of contact with the ground and in all moving parts. Year 4’s came up with some brilliant suggestions on how to improve the dragsters, and enjoyed the 1 on 1 CO2 dragster races of well-constructed CO2 dragsters that cover the 20m track from a standing start in approximately 1 second reaching speeds of up to 70km/h.

Last week, we had two AFL teams travel to compete in an inter-region AFL match. Both teams represented their schools with pride! 🏉

Mooloolaba demonstrated impressive skill, teamwork and strong play throughout the day, dominating on the field. Bounty, whilst still in the early stages of developing the sport, showed fantastic sportsmanship and determination. It was wonderful to see all students connecting, encouraging one another and sharing in the fun and excitement that competitive sport brings.

A special congratulations to Mae Love and Hughie McTaggart, who were presented with the ‘Guruman’ Award. ‘Guruman’ is the Indigenous word for kangaroo and also the Bounty mascot. This award recognises qualities such as strength, resilience, leadership and sportsmanship — a wonderful achievement for both students.

We are incredibly proud of all students involved! 👏
