This week, our middle schoolers brought down the house with a fast-paced, hilarious pantomime performance of Girl In The Hood. Watching them light up the stage got us feeling a little nostalgic, so we’re rewinding the clock 26 years... To the 2000 production of "This Is Where We Came In".

Remember the fancy costumes, the unforgettable stage sets, and the sheer joy of opening night? Whether you were in the spotlight, working backstage magic, or cheering from the audience, that magic has always been part of our Colleges DNA.

It was wonderful to welcome Old Flinderians Erika Lanthois Class of 2023), Anastasia Middleborough (Class of 2024) and Lachlan Miller (Class of 2025) back to the College this week as they joined Chamber Voices for a rehearsal. 🎶

They spent the morning singing alongside our current students, sharing stories and reminiscing about their time in the ensemble.

Director of Music Sally McHugh said,

"It was especially meaningful for many of our current members, who remember them as their former Choir Captains. Seeing the connections between past and present was a wonderful reminder of the strong sense of community and legacy within our music program."

🥉 Podium Finish | Congratulations to Old Flinderian Kristina Clonan (Class of 2016) who has scooped a Bronze Medal in the Women’s Keirin at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow! 🇦🇺🚲

Our Flinders community is thrilled to celebrate Kristina as one of Australia’s leading track sprinters. 🙌

She competed as part of the 25-strong Australian track and Para track cycling squad, and helped the Aussie team finish with a record-breaking 28-medal haul in Glasgow!

After missing much of the 2025 season with a severe back injury, Kristina has shown incredible grit to get back on the podium. Her journey is marked by resilience and steely determination, and she is an inspiring role model for our students and community.

Having originally been an endurance rider, Kristina switched to sprinting after missing selection for the Tokyo Olympic Games. The move was transformative, as she went on to win multiple national sprint titles and gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, breaking the Games record in the 500m time trial previously held by Anna Meares.

Well done, Kristina! 👏

BEYOND FLINDERS | From Flinders to Kenya – a journey of service and global learning 🌍

Since graduating last year, Old Flinderian Lucy Sinnamon has embraced her passion for travel and service, recently completing a five-month volunteer teaching placement at Starehe Boys' Centre & School in Kenya. This incredible opportunity came about through Flinders' Round Square connection.

Lucy immersed herself in every aspect of school life, teaching senior English, French, Biology and Life Skills, providing after-school tutoring, and contributing to debating, Model UN, swimming and band. She also established a French Club and a beginner clarinet program at a neighbouring primary school, sharing her love of language and music with younger students.

Inspired by her international experiences, Lucy will continue her global journey in 2027 after accepting an offer to study International Relations and Law at the prestigious Sciences Po in France.

During a recent visit back to Flinders, Lucy caught up with Round Square Coordinator Jodie Symons and joined a Senior French class, sharing stories from her time in Kenya and encouraging students to embrace opportunities beyond the classroom.

Interested in following in Lucy's footsteps?

Starehe Boys' Centre is now inviting applications for Volunteer Teaching Assistants from January 2027 (with flexibility for an earlier start). It's an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful difference while becoming part of a community dedicated to holistic education and character development.
