Reconciliation Week
We raised awareness for Children’s Ground, supporting a bright future for First Nation's children, by participating in Wear It Yellow. We also created a Sea of Hearts to represent our commitment to reconciliation.
Kindergarten 2 read and discussed a story about Vincent Lingiari and the Wave Hill walk-off. They were inspired by Aboriginal symbols and contemporary artwork, discussing and creating using a variety of mediums.
The children explored what reconciliation means, discussing “making up”, and when we might have had to reconcile with others.
We also welcomed back Zeke, from the local Gubbi Gubbi Dance, who we invite to visit every year as part of Reconciliation Week. Exposing the children to First Nations cultures and Peoples is part of Goodstart Buderim’s Reconciliation Action Plan.

SHOUT OUT to Carolyn!
We are very grateful she joined our team end of last year and took on the position as our Assistant Director in February. She is currently working really hard as our Acting Director while Judy, our centre director, is on leave. We are SO grateful she’s solution focused, we also admire her beautiful optimism and warmth. Thank you for everything you do Carolyn!

We are VERY excited to announce the opening of our new outdoor learning environment! This past week the children have been immersed in watching the water trickle down the creek bed, feeling the wind in their hair on the swing, hopping across the stepping stones AND embracing the mud all this rain has given us in our dirt pit.

WE ALL BELONG to a family, a community. We are our unique selves, we are all different, this is what we celebrated for Harmony Week at Goodstart Buderim.
Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. There was a sea of orange through our centre this week to show our support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia.
