✨ Happy Early Childhood Educators’ Day!✨

There is a unique, warm, and fuzzy feeling you get the moment you walk through the doors of our centre. It comes down to one thing: our amazing team of educators.

They don’t just care for the children—they genuinely delight in them. They take the time to truly get to know every single child and family, building deep, meaningful relationships that make our centre feel like a place where everyone truly belongs.

Their dedication is unmatched. In every decision they make, big or small, they put children first and passionately advocate for their best interests.

Their heart shines through in everything they do.

Thank you to this incredible team for your energy, your care, and your unwavering commitment to our little ones!

*** Shout Out to our new Centre Director, Emma, for making us feel deeply valued and appreciated today, and every day since you joined our team! 🥰 Thank you for the gifts, decorations, snacks and staffroom upgrade we got to enjoy today!

For National Wattle Day we took the opportunity to observe some beautiful, fresh wattle, noticing its bright yellow flowers, colour and delicate details. Inspired by what they saw, the children created their own wattle portraits, using their creativity and artistic skills to capture the beauty of this special Australian plant.

To celebrate Children’s Book Week, Goodstart Buderim was indeed a Symphony of Stories, seeing our love for literature come alive. It was as if we were part of the stories themselves, receiving apples from the Giving Tree, making Wombat Stew and reading to each other in costume. We thoroughly enjoyed family members coming in to read their favourite stories with us.

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

As part of National Science Week, we engaged in a variety of experiments and investigations across the centre. However, science is something we embed in our curriculum daily at Goodstart Buderim. We plan experiences and use spontaneous teachable moments to spark wonder and a sense of curiosity about the world around us.

Last week, families joined us in conducting experiments in the classrooms and we even had a visit from a real scientist, Poppa Waz, who shared his knowledge of termites.

Kindergarten 2 have been exploring habitats and climate change. 🐢🐻‍❄️

They discussed what creatures need in order to live and grow. Using a variety of materials they arranged habitats considering three important things that creatures need in their habitat: food, shelter, and a safe place to have their babies.

Books such as ‘Like an Ocean We Rise’ and ‘Little Turtle and the Sea’ prompted their investigations. Including the effects of a large ice cube melting in a polar small world play as well as exploring turtle nesting and hatching using a small world tuff tray.

Connections were made between the sea turtles and their work on the ice melting, recognising that changes to the environment could impact where turtles live and lay their eggs.

These experiences support children to develop environmental awareness, make connections between books and their play, as well as begin to understand the relationship between climate, habitats and wildlife survival.
