The General Secretary of JKTA–JKECC, Mr Hatim Qayoom, expressed deep concern over the plight of Seasonal Teachers, stating that they are selflessly serving in the most difficult and remote areas, educating underprivileged children under extremely challenging conditions, often without even basic facilities.

He added that despite their tireless efforts in reducing dropout rates and spreading literacy in far-flung regions, these teachers continue to suffer due to meager wages, delayed payments, and a complete lack of job security, which has caused immense mental and financial distress to them and their families.

The JK Employees Coordination Committee / JK Teachers Association strongly urges the authorities to recognize their invaluable contribution, ensure dignified wages, and formulate a clear policy for their regularization, as ignoring their sacrifices is not only unjust but also detrimental to the future of education and society.

The General Secretary of JKTA–JKECC, Mr. Hatim Qayoom, has expressed serious concern regarding the condition of Aayas, Cooks, and Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) working in government schools.
He stated that Aayas are playing a pivotal role in nurturing and shaping the future of students, while cooks engaged under the Mid Day Meal Scheme are ensuring the nutritional well-being of school children. Furthermore, CPWs are serving as the backbone of the Education Department by supporting essential day-to-day functioning.
Despite their significant contributions, these workers are facing severe challenges and mental distress due to the payment of meager honorarium or, in some cases, complete non-payment, which is in violation of prevailing labour laws.
In this regard, the JK Employees Coordination Committee/JK Teachers Association strongly demands the immediate enhancement of honorarium for Aayas, Cooks, and CPWs in accordance with existing labour laws. It is unjust and unacceptable that such workers are compelled to survive on wages that do not meet even their basic needs.
The Association further appeals to the Administration and the School Education Department to take urgent cognizance of this matter and ensure the timely release of all pending dues, along with the provision of fair and dignified wages to these workers.
