We’re back – and more equipped than ever to empower youth and families.

After an 18-month hiatus, The Independent Living Program is proud to return with renewed energy, deeper knowledge, and expanded qualifications to better serve our young people and families.

During our time away, we focused on furthering our education and deepening our practice, strengthening our ability to walk alongside youth who are navigating complex challenges and striving for independence.

At ILP, our purpose remains the same: to support marginalised and disengaged young people, aged 10–25, in developing the skills and confidence to live independently and thrive. Our programs are collaborative, flexible, and designed to meet young people where they’re at, with options claimable through NDIS Capacity Building, Community Engagement, or other funding channels.

Our approach continues to be:
•Child-centred — prioritising healing, recovery, and wellbeing
•Authentic — grounded in honesty, empathy, and communication
•Collaborative — working alongside youth, families, and community partners

With experience supporting young people across ASD, ADHD, ODD, LGBTQIA+, trauma, foster care, and detention backgrounds, we bring both understanding and fierce advocacy to every interaction.

We’re excited to re-open our doors on the Sunshine Coast and continue building pathways toward independence together.

We hear stories like this far too often. But what to do? This man's life is forever changed whilst the youth responsible may even let the memory slip away.

Several factors contribute to youth crime rates in Australia. These can include socio-economic disparities, family environment, substance abuse, lack of education or employment opportunities, and even societal influences. Addressing these root causes through targeted interventions and community support can help mitigate the issue.
