GEAR up is excited to invite GIRLS AND BOYS aged 8+ to this introductory workshop. Whether you have done robotics before and are looking to extend your skills or totally new to robotics, this workshop is perfect for you. Over the 2 days the course will be ran in 2 sessions:

INTRODUCTION TO SPIKE ROBOTICS (11/04/2023 9am till 1pm) : SPIKE robots are LEGO robots that can be built in custom designs, then programmed using the LEGO Spike Prime software. Get ready for some awesome SUMO fights and programming your robots to follow you!

SPIKE FLL WORKSHOP (12/04/2023 9am till 1pm): Put your skills to the test! First Lego League is one of the biggest robotics competitions in the world and in this workshop you get to be a part of it! Get ready for some competition!

No prior skills required!

Although this is an introductory course, anyone who has done robotics before is encouraged to come along to extend and refine their skill set and we will be sure to challenge them.

Tickets are available for either of the 2 sessions Individually or both together (at a discounted price!).

What to Bring:
- BYO laptop with LEGO SPIKE software
- BYO Water-bottle and lunch

INTRODUCTION TO PYTHON ROBOTICS (29/09/2022 9am till 1pm) - MicroMelon robots are small, easy to use robots that can be coded by Scratch and Python! This workshop will teach you how to make the robot drive in shapes, follow a line and chase you around, all through python!

PYTHON A-MAZE-ING WORKSHOP (30/09/2022 9am till 1pm) - Put your skills to the test! Take part in a number of fun and challenging competitions including Line Follow, Maze runs and obstacle courses.

No prior skills required!

Congratulations teams!

Last weekend we had 5 teams compete at RoboRave Australia!

It was amazing to see everyone having a great time and giving each competition their best go. All the work you have put in the past 3 weeks has been outstanding and it really translated on the day.

You were all phenomenal and we are so proud of you all.

The time has come! These school holidays, Royal Robotics is teaming up with Gear Up Robotics to take an elite class of students to compete in RoboRAVE on July 17th!

This program will consist of 4 intensive sessions where you will learn how to build and program your robot to compete in one of the many challenges available at the competition.

Under the direction of Oscar from Royal Robotics and Ioana from Gear up, you will learn tricks of the trade to boost your chances of success!

From SumoBot to A-MAZE-ing, and Line Follow to Entrepreneurial, we will guide you through what it takes to create a robot that is built to win! Does this sound like something for you? Get involved today!

What to expect:
This Program will be held over four sessions during the winter school holidays. The sessions are as follows:

Thursday: 30/06/2022 - 9:00am-12:00pm
Friday: 01/07/2022 - 9:00am-12:00pm
Thursday: 07/07/2022 - 1:00pm-4:00pm
Friday: 08/07/2022 - 1:00pm-4:00pm

An additional preparation will also be held before RoboRave on 17/07/2022:

Friday: 15/07/21 - 4:00pm-6:00pm

What's included:
The course fee includes:

- A team t-shirt
- Competition registration
- Four sessions led by two robotics competition legends and an additional preparation session.
- All gear (robots, building materials, activity resources) for use during the program + competition

During the sessions:

During the four holiday sessions, we request that each student brings their own laptop to be used for programming. We ask this as it gives students the opportunity to take their work home to build on it, learn more other skills, and come into the next session one step ahead. A small number of devices will be available for loan during the sessions if required.

Each student should bring a packed lunch/snack and a water bottle to each session.
