❄️ It’s getting cold, Sunny Coast! ❄️

We are finding lots of families unsure how they should be keeping baby warm through these chilly days and nights so we have put together some top tips for you.

First - moisturiser is key! Winter air can be very drying for sensitive little skin, so ensure you’re moisturising daily. For wind burn or dry spots, Lanolin / Lasinoh works a treat.

LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS - start thin and slowly increase fabric thickness. Cotton and Muslin fabrics are warm, but also breathable. Babies lose heat faster than adults, through their heads and feet first. When venturing outside, add a beanie and socks.

OVERNIGHT: Currently temps are getting as low as 8° overnight 🥶 we recommend a singlet, a long sleeve pyjamas or onesies with feet coverings (or thin socks) and a 3.5 TOG sleep sack. Ensure you do remove all beanies or hats prior to sleep and follow safe sleep guidelines

Bath time: We like to use a warm towel right out of the dryer to wrap baby in for extra comfort! Ensure towel temp is warm to touch only, to avoid burns

When you’re feeling sore, unwell, and overwhelmed, it can be hard to know who to turn to. But getting the right support early can make a huge difference to how quickly you recover, as well as help with preventing recurrence.

Our service is led by a Nurse Practitioner & IBCLC, so you’re getting care from someone who specialises in breastfeeding and mastitis.
That means:
• A thorough assessment to understand what’s actually going on
• Practical feeding & drainage support to help with prevention moving forward
• Treatment (including prescriptions if needed)
• A Telehealth follow-up to make sure you’re on the mend (bulk billed)

These appointments are eligible for a Medicare rebate, meaning you are only $36 out of pocket.
