MEET THE TEAM - Our Centre Housekeepers

Maria & Lisa

Our wonderful housekeepers, Maria and Lisa, keep our beautiful centre at Newspaper Place looking fresh and clean for our children, families and educators. We appreciate all that they do for us!

The fun and colourful children’s picture book, “Horray For Fish!” by Lucy Cousins, was the inspiration for our recent focus in the Wilfrid Gordon room at Dalton Drive.

Through different creative mediums the children have interpreted their own fish designs, underwater coral, and crafted hanging jellyfish.

Meanwhile our teachers scribed the children’s descriptive language of their fish creations. One child said, “I painted a long red person fish – it lives on the seashore and eats lettuce in the ocean".

In our Tiddalick room at Dalton Drive we were so lucky to learn about the special Swedish Easter tradition known as Skärtorsdag.

Skärtorsdag is a magical day in Nordic folklore when old legends and modern fun come together. It is most famous for the tradition of "Easter Witches".

One of our lovely parent’s – Petronella, shared with us how in Swedish culture the children dress up as witches and decorate small tree branches or twigs with coloured feathers, eggs, and little chicken figures as “treats” for mythical witches from the past.

It is a fun and exciting time for the children as they celebrate Easter and welcome in the Spring.

MEET THE TEAM – Hairy Maclary room. 2 -3 years.

Our Hairy Maclary team at Dalton Drive are a fabulous, dynamic group of early childhood professionals who bring a diverse range of experience, skills, and knowledge to help create a stimulating, challenging and fun program for all our dear little friends.

Their responsive, nurturing and gentle approaches create the ideal learning space for our 2 -3’s as they begin grow in confidence and curiosity.

Our Kindy children in our Old Friends and My Treasures rooms have been busy settling into their year of learning.

We sure 'Painted the Place Pink' at both of our Maroochydore Centres - Dalton Drive and Newspaper Place, in support of our dear team member - Maira! Thank you to all of our families, friends and team for your incredible generosity in supporting our fundraising day. Your kindness and willingness to give, truly makes a difference.

We are still counting donations that are coming in but we are currently sitting at over $4000 raised to help assist with medical bills and expenses.

Amazing what we can do when our community comes together in support of our own!

🩷 Paint the Place Pink for Maira! 🩷

Our beautiful colleague Maira, a cherished early childhood educator from our Dalton Drive service and much-loved member of our Out & About community, is currently undergoing treatment for Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

During this incredibly challenging time, we want to come together to show our love, strength, and support – and help ease some of the financial pressure of medical expenses.

On WEDNESDAY 11th MARCH, all three of our centres will be taking part in a special fundraiser: “Paint the Place Pink for Maira”.

We invite all children and families to come dressed in pink to show their support. Cash donations will be gratefully accepted at the front office of each centre.

Let’s stand together as the beautiful Out & About community we are and surround Maira with the care and kindness she has always shown to others.

MEET THE TEAM - Things That Go room. 12 months - 2 years.

Jen, Karen, Sally & Ruby

These 4 wonderful educators have the pleasure of caring for and educating our toddlers at our Newspaper Place centre. They spend their days providing a range of sensory experiences, music and movement opportunities and developing friendships that are going to support them as they progress on their Out & About journey.

We value all the qualities that each and every educator brings to the team in our Things That Go room and look forward to watching them nurture the learning and growth of all children.

Recently the Out & About Directors Anna, Gaylyn & Brooke along with our Approved Provider Pam, attended the Chamber of Commerce February Breakfast with Janine Allis.

Janine is a renowned entrepreneur who shared her inspirational business journey, from founding Boost Juice Bars in 2000 to co-owning Yo-Chi, Australia's leading frozen yoghurt brand.

We have some proud children wearing their 2026 Kindergarten shirts at our Out & About Care & Education centres.

Kindy is such a significant year of growth — a time for learning through play, building confidence, growing independence and forming meaningful friendships.
