Our Year 9 international student Anika continues to make her mark on the badminton court!

Since her recent B/C Grade win at the 2026 Gold Coast Open Challenge, Anika has added more impressive results to her growing list of achievements, including a 🥇 C Grade Singles win and 🥈 B Grade Singles runner-up at the 2026 Lions Club 3rd Brisbane Zhonghua Cup.

She has also reached the semi-finals of the Queensland U17 Smash Fest and received her official BWF Player Identification Number, opening the door to eligible national and international competitions. 🌏🏸

From India to Queensland, Anika is embracing the opportunities that come with being part of our international student community while pursuing her passion for badminton.

Congratulations to Carl, who participated in the Senior Division of this year’s ICQ (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) Quiz, on achieving a perfect score! 🎉

Carl was among a select group of Australian, New Zealand and Indian students recognised for achieving a perfect score — an outstanding achievement that reflects his knowledge, effort and commitment to learning.

🎪✨ MINI EKKA FUN AT SUNNYBANK SHS! ✨🎪

Last week our school community came together for a Mini EKKA, complete with games, treats, music, laughter and plenty of friendly competition, what a fantastic afternoon at Sunnybank SHS! 🎉

From giant chess, Jenga and Connect 4 to ping pong toss, cup challenges, popcorn and snow cones, there was something for everyone. 🍿❄️🏓

With students enjoying free dress for a gold coin donation, and staff and students getting involved in the games, there was plenty of cheering, friendly competition and fun throughout the event.

What an incredible achievement by our Mathematical Methods students! Eighteen students earned a perfect 100%, reflecting exceptional dedication, perseverance and academic excellence.

This outstanding result is a testament to the hard work of our students and the support of their teachers.

🎨✨ ARTS COLLABORATION ✨🎨

We recently welcomed Year 5 and 6 students from Coopers Plains State School for a creative day of collaboration and connection! 💚💛

After working together throughout the term, teachers from both schools brought the students into our Art Studio to complete their clay artworks, which will be bisque fired here at Sunnybank SHS. 🏺🎨

The students also took part in Drama and Dance workshops, giving them the chance to explore new creative skills and experience learning in our specialist Arts spaces. 💃🎭

It was a fantastic opportunity for our schools to work together and strengthen our connection with the Coopers Plains community.

We look forward to welcoming our young artists back in Week 10 to glaze their fired artworks! 🎨✨
