A Story-Filled Afternoon at Holy Trinity!
Today, our entire school transformed into a cozy reading wonderland for our Book Sharing Afternoon!
Our children had the chance to hop between different classrooms and discover which picture story books hold a special place in our teachers' hearts. From laugh-out-loud adventures to timeless classics, classrooms were buzzing with lively discussions and magical story time as the children experienced different teachers and classrooms around the school.
Watching our teachers and children connect over a shared love of books was the ultimate highlight. A huge thank you to all our teachers for sharing their favourite stories and to our wonderful children for being such thoughtful listeners!

It was the muddiest of times, it was the best of times!
The SPSSA Rugby Tag Gala Day was an absolute triumph last week, with the children showing incredible grit and enthusiasm despite the soggy conditions. Splashing through fresh, slick mud following the previous night's heavy downpour, the players never let the weather dampen their spirits as they showcased impressive dodging, swift passing, and sharp tag-defending skills.
It was a day filled with infectious laughter, fantastic sportsmanship, and brilliant tries, leaving everyone with muddy gear and unforgettable memories of a fantastic tournament.

We had an absolute blast at school yesterday welcoming renowned Australian author and illustrator Leigh Hobbs!
Leigh is best known for books like 'Old Tom', 'Horrible Harriet', and 'Mr Chicken', and we were fortunate to have him bring his vibrant energy into our school to inspire our children into becoming artists and storytellers.
During his hands-on workshop, the children didn't just listen—they got straight to work.
Mastering the Classics: Leigh gave step-by-step instructions on how to draw some of his iconic characters, showing our children how simple lines and shapes can build instantly recognisable personalities.
Creating New Characters: Guided by Leigh's clever techniques, the children in Years 3-6 experimented with expression, exaggerated features, and bold lines to invent brand new characters of their very own!
It was incredible to see our school filled with focused little artists, laughing at Leigh's funny stories and proudly showing off their creations.
Ask your child to show you what they drew yesterday—you might just find the next 'Old Tom' sitting at your kitchen table!

Book Week is Coming!
Yesterday our Prep children had a magical visit from the Sunbury Library team to officially kick off Book Week!
Our host, Sarah, delighted our Prep children by bringing stories to life in her enchanted fairy outfit. The children were completely captivated as she shared incredible tales, leading into a fun-filled session of singing, dancing, and movement. To top off the celebration, our creative Preps crafted their very own colorful Book Week headbands to wear proudly! Some of our Prep children also received their very own library card which will enable them to borrow from the Sunbury Library and experience all that the library has to offer to keep their reading adventures alive.

CHILD SAFE STANDARDS
As part of the MACS, '11 Months, 11 Standards' Child Safe Standards initiative, staff have completed the August focus together in greater detail: Child Safe Standard 7: Processes for complaints are child focused.
As Catholic educators, we have a moral, mission-driven and legal responsibility to uphold and actively promote the wellbeing and safety of every student entrusted in our care. Our commitment to the protection of students includes ensuring that children, families and community members can raise complaints and concerns safely, are listened to respectfully, and understand how to access child-focused complaint processes that prioritise children’s voices and wellbeing.

Led by Kate Korber from The Inquiry Project, our team took part in a progressive learning walk, beginning in Prep and making our way through to our Year 6 classrooms.
Along the way, we explored how our learning walls act as the third teacher, capturing student thinking, gathering ideas, documenting learning and helping students make meaningful connections to prior knowledge.
It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the learning happening across our school and gather fresh inspiration from one another!
