We also were able to celebrate and acknowledge the first nations with an incursion with Sean, with our 3 year old group enjoying learning about the sounds of the didgeridoo and practicing being Australian animals and the older group explored different artifacts of the first nations people.

🦷✨ Healthy Smiles Start Early! ✨🦷

Today we were delighted to welcome our friendly local dentist from Omnia Community Health, Sunbury, to our childcare centre for dental health screenings! 😁

The visit gave our Prekinder children the opportunity to become familiar with the dentist in a fun, relaxed and supportive environment, helping to build confidence while promoting positive oral health habits from an early age.

The children enjoyed learning about:
🪥 How to brush their teeth properly
🦷 Foods that help keep teeth healthy
😊 Why regular dental check-ups are important

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

You may not be aware, Goodstart Sunbury Bennett court receives funds from the department of education called the school readiness funding to conduct training and learning opportunities for our educators, children and families.

This years plan we have focused on many areas of development, such as social and communication capacities.

We also have children safety in mind. With the element of safety, we have decided to focus on how we can support children to be safe for themselves in all aspects of their life, in particular safeguarding from others including children and adults.
