Monday night saw over 40 fathers and their children attend the Sunbury Heights Paper Plane and Pizza night. There was excitement at the entrance as everyone entered the door prize competition to win a glider. Upon entering the hub there was paper, soft drink, textas and pizza galore. Competition faces were ready and banter was flying around. The Kahoot was a great way to engage everyone. It was then time for the competition to begin. There were 3 categories – Distance, Time Aloft and Acrobatics. The students went first with some making it to the back of the room. The competition heated up as the dads got their chance to show their skills. The concentration on everyone’s face was a delight to watch. Many prizes were awarded and a lot of fun was had by all. Thanks to all families that participated in this event. Thanks to Big Josh, Mr Gardner and Mrs Lewis for your wonderful organisation skills.

When dads and father figures play an active role in their child's life, it has significant impacts on child wellbeing and development.
Whether you live with your child, or apart - making an effort everyday to stay engaged is important.
This could look like:
💭 Setting time aside each day to spend quality time together - even if it's for 15 minutes uninterrupted
📱Texting or calling your child each day to check in and ask about their day
📅 Marking dates in the calendar on a monthly basis for a dad date

It's a simple one this week.
Just REST.
Take the time to spend it with family, your kids, doing things you enjoy and use this time to reset for the new year.
