I loved chatting about how we can better support singers recovering from vocal injury. For singers, that in-between stage, when you’re finishing voice therapy and finding your way back into the studio, can feel tricky and sometimes a bit daunting. It was so great to share ideas and practical strategies for singing teachers to help their students rebuild with confidence and feel supported every step of the way 🎶❤️

Hi everyone!

I’m sharing a survey for a research project I am involved in: Transforming Trans Singing Education: motivations and experiences of Australian trans, gender diverse and non-binary singers. This project aims to advocate for safer singing spaces for our trans and gender diverse community by beginning to fill the research gap surrounding how to teach trans and gender diverse singers in appropriate, safer and more accessible ways.

We are currently seeking participants for the first stage of our project, which is a 30-minute online survey on transgender and gender diverse people’s singing experiences. We are seeking participants who identify as part of the trans community (including gender diverse, non-conforming, non-binary, gender-fluid) who have an interest in singing.

In addition to having a trans researcher on the team, we also have worked through our survey questions with an advisory board made of transgender folk with an interest in our research topic. Together, we hope to help singing teachers gain a better understanding of how to support trans singers. The survey will close on 26th November 2025.

This project has received ethics approval from Griffith University (Approval number: GU Ref No: 2021/783).

Transforming Trans Singing Education: motivations and experiences of Australian trans, gender diverse and non-binary singers This research project has been informed by a transformational research design with a view to placing the interests and care of the trans community at the centre of the research.

What a weekend with this incredible crew! We spent the past few days refining and updating the Policies and Procedures to make sure we’re leading and governing with integrity and purpose.

We still managed to find time for a few wines, a 70s-themed dinner, and some karaoke 🎤

I’m so grateful to work alongside people who make the hard work enjoyable and leave me feeling proud of what we’ve accomplished together 💛

I had the privilege of joining the always inspiring Shelli Hulcombe and Di Hughes in a discussion exploring how we might foster and sustain professionalism within the singing teaching profession.
