Congratulations to Trinity Old Boy Rohan Browning ('15), who has helped Australia claim a historic gold medal in the men's 4x100m relay at the Commonwealth Games.

Running the anchor leg, Rohan guided Australia to victory alongside teammates Lachlan Kennedy, Joshua Azzopardi and Calab Law, with the quartet winning a thrilling photo finish in 38.07 seconds. The result ended Australia's 52-year wait for Commonwealth Games gold in the event, with the nation's last title coming in 1974.

We also congratulate Ollie H***e ('15), who showed remarkable resilience throughout the Games. After being tripped and falling during his qualifying heat of the men's mile, Ollie got back to his feet and finished the race, before being reinstated to the final following a successful Australian protest. He went on to finish fifth in the final, capping off a determined campaign as he sought to defend his 2022 Commonwealth Games title.

Rohan and Ollie's performances are a source of great pride for the Trinity community, and we congratulate both Old Boys on representing Australia with distinction on the international stage.

The final round of winter sport provided plenty to celebrate, with strong performances across football, rugby, volleyball, tennis, AFL, cross country and debating.

Among the highlights were Trinity reclaiming the Michael Spratt Cup as CAS Cross Country champions, several teams completing undefeated seasons, and a number of impressive results across the final weekend of competition.

Congratulations to all students, coaches, staff, families and supporters on a memorable winter season. We now look forward to the CAS Track & Field season and the start of summer sport later this term.

The Visual Arts Department is delighted to celebrate the success of the 2026 Trinity Year 7 Young Archies Portraiture Prize, which showcased an outstanding range of artistic talent from our Year 7 students. Demonstrating creativity, technical skill and thoughtful approaches to portraiture, students produced works of an exceptionally high standard, making the judging process a challenging one for guest judge Randall Sinnamon (Class of '87'), acclaimed Australian artist and Archibald Prize finalist.

Congratulations to Jonathan Q, whose portrait was awarded this year's prize. Jonathan's work depicts his grandfather, with an owl positioned behind him to represent the wisdom, care and guidance he sees in him. Praising the portrait, Randall remarked that it was as good as anything he saw during his time at the National Art School.

Another impressive weekend of competition for Trinity, with strong performances across football, rugby, tennis, volleyball, AFL, debating and cross country.

Highlights included a hard-fought win for the 1st XI Football team, a dominant round for Tennis, and outstanding national results in the pool, where Trinity students secured nine medals at the SSA Swimming and Diving National Championships.

The annual Trinity Relays, held on Saturday 25 July at Ewen Park, brought together the Trinity community and competitors from 16 CAS, GPS and ISA schools for another memorable day of cross-country. Unlike a traditional cross-country event, the Trinity Relays are contested as a four-leg relay across a range of age divisions.

Trinity was strongly represented by 60 students across the Junior, Intermediate and Open divisions joined by staff, parents and Old Boys, highlighting the strong community spirit that makes the event so unique.

The Trinity Old Boys team was once again a highlight, recording the fastest relay of the day while also claiming victory in their division. Many of those who participated are now competing at collegiate level in the United States, highlighting the opportunities that cross-country and athletics can create beyond school and demonstrating the enduring strength of the Trinity running community.

Old Trinitarians’ Union

A huge congratulations to Rohan Browning and Ollie H***e as they proudly represent Australia at the Commonwealth Games.

Rohan Browning battled through the men's 100m competition, running 10.24 seconds in his heat to advance to the semi-finals. He will also represent Australia in the 4x100m relay on Saturday 1 August from 7:00pm AEST.

Ollie H***e, the reigning Commonwealth Games mile champion, displayed incredible resilience and perseverance in his qualifying heat. After being tripped and falling during the race, Ollie got back to his feet and completed the race for Australia. Following a successful protest, he has been reinstated into the final, where he will have the chance to defend the title he won in Birmingham in 2022. The Men's One Mile Final is on Sunday 2 August in the early morning finals session.

The entire Trinity community is proud to see our Old Boys competing at the highest level and inspiring the next generation.

Old Trinitarians’ Union

From cricket grounds and basketball courts to water polo pools and volleyball arenas, Trinity Grammar School Old Boys continue to represent Australia at the highest level of international sport.

Across four sports, five Trinitarians are currently involved in Australian national programs, competing against the world's best and carrying on a proud tradition of sporting excellence. Their journeys have taken them from Trinity teams and CAS competitions to international arenas, demonstrating where talent, dedication and hard work can lead.

A special thank you also to our Hospitality students who catered for our volunteers with tasty treats to keep them going throughout the 24 hour campaign.
