💡 Parent Workshop Success! 🏫✨
A huge thank you to the 15 enthusiastic parents who joined us last night to step into the shoes of our students!
Guided by Ms Politano and Mrs da Silva, parents became "the class" for a fast-paced overview of how we learn at St Patrick's:
📖 Religious Education: Storytelling to understand Scripture.
✍️ Writing: How children learn to construct different types of sentences.
🔢 Mathematics: Reviewing past learning and practicing mental arithmetic for accuracy and fluency.
Parents got hands-on with daily classroom strategies like mini whiteboards, "Think-Pair-Share," brain breaks, and exit tickets. These tools are used every day to help our students organise thoughts, share ideas, and reflect on their learning.
Thank you to the parents who came along to learn with us! 🌟

🎩 Stage 1 Steps Back in Time to the 1800s! 👗
Our Stage 1 students had a wonderful time stepping into the past during their excursion to Rouse Hill Estate!
Dressed in period costumes and taking on new identities, they got to experience exactly what a school day was like more than a century ago. Our historic students:
✏️ Practiced arithmetic and wrote on slate boards
🐛 Learned all about the life cycle of a silkworm
💃 Tried their hand at maypole dancing and thread work
🎲 Played some classic, old-fashioned schoolyard games
The children absolutely loved the day and fully embraced learning in such an authentic, historic setting. ❤️

Stage 1 has turned into a mini makers’ studio! Students became town‑planning experts as they designed their own suburbs, complete with roads and important places. These plans were then brought to life with som LEGO. The grand finale was programming a Bee‑Bot to zip around their creations. It was a learning activity full of imagination, problem‑solving, and hands‑on fun. 🌟

🌿 Stage 2 Explores the Auburn Botanical Gardens! 🌿
On Wednesday, 13 May, our Year 3 and 4 students stepped into a living classroom for a fantastic excursion to the Auburn Botanical Gardens!
As part of their History unit, "Celebrations and Commemorations," the Ranger Jamie team guided our students through a hands-on journey blending nature and history:
💚 The Japanese Garden: We explored the stunning grounds, waterfalls, and koi fish ponds while learning how nature can commemorate peace and friendship between nations.
🐨 The Aussie Bush & Rainforest: A trek through the bush brought us face-to-face with wallabies, emus, and a wombat, before we explored the massive canopy of the rainforest.
🐉 Dragon Dances: We wrapped up the day by designing Chinese Dragon heads and performing high-energy dragon dances, celebrating our rich multicultural community!

🌸Honoring the Special Women in Our Lives 🌸
May is the Month of Mary, and our school community has been marking this special time by coming together every Wednesday morning to pray the Rosary.
This devotion beautifully connected with our recent Mother’s Day celebrations! From the wonderful turnout at our breakfast and liturgy to the sweet moments at our Mother’s Day stall—where children thoughtfully picked out gifts for their mums and mother figures—it has been a beautiful season of gratitude. 💕
🤝 A very special thank you to all the dads and mums who helped make this celebration special for all the mother figures in our community.
🤝We also extend our thanks to HarrisTrip Real Estate for their ongoing sponsorship and support, which helped make our Mother’s Day breakfast such a wonderful success.

Across Sydney Catholic Schools, young artists are telling powerful stories through portraiture. The 2026 SCS Portrait Prize attracted 725 student submissions, with 93 artworks from 40 schools selected for exhibition.
Each portrait captures not just a face, but the connection and story behind someone important in the artist’s life. Now in its fifth year, the Portrait Prize continues to nurture creativity and artistic growth among students from Kindergarten to Year 12, encouraging them to develop both their technical skills and emotional insight.
Congratulations to our award winners and to every student who participated. Read more and explore the full gallery here: https://ow.ly/Typ850YQTfg
