Huge congratulations to these terrific young musicians - my flute students Tarun, Evelyn & Amali and my cellist son James. It was a privilege to celebrate these milestones with you at the recent AMEB Diploma graduation ceremony. I am so proud of you all 👏🎶🤩

I am delighted to share the wonderful news that my student, Amali C has been offered a very substantial scholarship and place at the Royal College of Music in London this year.

I am so proud of Amali’s dedication and hard work over many years to achieve this incredible offer, in addition to an early offer from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, an HSC Encore nomination and full marks for her HSC Music Extension performances.

Additionally, she was the chosen soloist to perform a movement of Reinecke’s flute concerto with the SACS symphony orchestra at the 2025 Showcase concert at the Sydney Town Hall (pictured). She was also part of the SACS Kapustin Trio with Joshua C (piano) and James Grennan (cello), who were awarded the Mixed Ensemble Prize for this year’s Musica Viva “Strike a Chord” competition.

It has been a great joy to teach Amali over the past decade, and I can’t wait to see where her musical future takes her. I look forward to sharing details of her farewell recital before she heads to London later in 2026! 🎶👏🤩

First prize in both his sections at Sydney Metro Band Branch Solo Contest and he was also awarded the Cath Hagerty Memorial Award.

*U11 Any Wind Instrument – Unrestricted (Playing Charles-Marie Widor, Suite Op. 34, Mvt 1)

* U11 Slow Melody (playing Mozart, Concerto No. 1 in G, K. 313, Mvt 2)

And, first and third prizes for his performances at the Wollongong Eisteddfod.

It is such a privilege for me to work with such dedicated, young musicians! Keep up the terrific work, Isaac!

I’ve had the biggest smile on my face driving to and from work this week, listening to this fabulous recording by Roberto Alvarez and Kseniia Vokhmianina. Their concert last Saturday was such a treat (voted the “best flute concert ever” by my cellist son!) Such incredible artistry from them both, and repertoire that was a complete breath of fresh air! Huge thanks also to Roberto for his inspiring (and really fun) lessons with my lovely students Amali, Evelyn & Tarun in the lead up to their HSC, LMUS and AMUS exams!

The Whirlwind Within - Odradek Records

Thrilled to have had the chance to catch up recently with so many who have guided me on my flute journey. I am forever grateful to have had such terrific teachers/mentors/friends 💕

My lovely former student / colleague Dr Austin Lee will be performing at the Sydney Opera House this Saturday 2nd November 2-4pm with the World Doctors Orchestra (WDO)!

All proceeds will be donated to Chris O'Brien Lifehouse, a non-profit integrated cancer treatment centre whose funds go into cancer patient care and research 🙂

The World Doctors Orchestra The World Doctors Orchestra proudly presents its 2024 Australian Tour concert in the Sydney Opera House. This inaugural Sydney concert presents Deborah Cheetham Fraillon’s Tarimi Nulay, Carl Vine’s Symphony No.1 Microsymphony and the momentous 2nd symphony by Gustav Mahler.

Another AMEB exam season done and dusted. So pleased for all of my students who worked so hard to achieve such fab results! Two AmusA diplomas awarded, four A+ results (grades 4, 6, 7, 7) and the rest A’s! I couldn’t be more proud of you all! 🤩
