❤️💛🖤 NAIDOC WEEK 🖤💛❤️

We’ve had the most spectacular week celebrating NAIDOC week alongside our community.

We are so blessed at Kururrungku to have such wonderful leaders that work alongside our students throughout the year sharing their cultural knowledge and teachings.

But this week, it was extra special to spend so much time celebrating our community, history and culture together.

More photos to come of our week of celebrations- but here are some happy snaps from our school festival today!

Thank you to all the staff that helped to make it happen. Thank you to the men who prepared and cooked our mungarri and the families who came to join us.

And thank you to our beautiful students, who are at the centre of everything we do ♥️♥️

El Questro Camp! 🏕️

Our Jarrampayi class and Year 5 students spent Week 8 in El Questro. We had the most spectacular time!

Together, we walked bush trails, slept in our swags, toured Chamberlain Gorge by boat, and swam in as many water holes as we could find!

The students spent time with the local Elders and were taught about their customs and Country. We were welcomed through a traditional smoking ceremony and spent an evening with the Elders sharing stories about the constellations and singing together.

Everywhere we went, we were met with praise for how beautifully behaved, well-mannered, polite and wonderful our group were. We could not be more proud of the students on this camp, our first in a long time.

What a blessing to have spent the week exploring together!

We have had SO much wonderful learning happening both at school and on Country.

Our students have been working hard in class with the support of our wonderful teachers! We have also had a lot of visitors coming into the school to share their work with our students. We have had football sessions with Garnduwa, lessons with the Trachoma team and visits from the travelling dentists!

Out on Country, we have been learning about bush medicine. With MK and two of our local Elders, Daisy and Diane, the students have been gathering plants and participating in bush medicine practices! 🌼

🦎 ON COUNTRY 🐍

The youngest students in our school spent a day on Country with our Culture teachers Miss MK and Miss Suraya. They had a fabulous time observing the plants and animals, looking for bush foods (like the bush banana pictured) and spending time at the very-full creek!

What a wonderful adventure!

WOW WEEK 6 🤩

We had such a special assembly today!
Thank you to the ECE class for their wonderful presentation.

The children showed us their baby dolls and explained to the school how they have been using them to learn how to care for their younger family members.

They then sang two beautiful songs for us in both English and Walmajarri! It was such a special display of their two-way learning💛

Thank you Miss Suraya and Miss Lea for your wonderful work with the students, and thank you ECE students for your fabulous presentation! We loved it!

We also got to celebrate our star students this week, with both Merit Awards for in-class excellence and our Deadly Awards for our 100% attenders.

Awesome work! We are SO proud of you all!

THE CREEK IS FULL! 🌊💧🌦️

To celebrate an excellent week of work and the milky water arriving in the creek, the whole school headed out on an afternoon excursion.

All the teachers and students fished, swam, hunted for crabs and most importantly, enjoyed the beautiful place we live in.

We are so lucky! 🥰

WOW!
What a way to finish Week 5!

So many wonderful award winners to celebrate, you guys are all stars and we are so proud of you 🤩

During our assembly, the Middle Class taught us how to write a story. Through their play of the Three Little Pigs, they explained to the audience the key parts to writing a story. What a show! 🥳

Thank you to the parents and families that came to watch. We are so grateful for your cheers of support! ❤️
