Stroud Preschool has engaged with Phil Bird this term for professional development with our team. This gives our team further understanding of what's happening to children's brains during different ages and stages of emotional regulation and the strategies to support the children during these times.

To our families and community- he has a great Instagram and page with knowledge and passion for the neuroscience of the brain and behaviours in children. A great page to follow for insight and understanding.

Our Friday update along with some reminders and preschool information has been sent via Kindyhub. Have a great weekend.

As our inquiry of clay begins, our families may notice there are no tools or loose parts for the children to add or utilise.
Like everything in our Early Childhood space, our experiences are set with intentions, after deep reflection on our pedagogical practices and the outcomes and knowledge we anticipate to explore.

At Stroud Preschool we are slowing down our pedagogy which allows deeper thinking, curiosities and allows the educators to prompt and guide critical thinking and a deeper understanding on what's unfolding.
In the early stages of our inquiry, it may look "boring" "messy" or "not exciting" but what's really happening is the process of learning "what is clay" and "how does it feel" as it opens up questions and thought processes on how it feels when they press or roll, alongside how can we make the clay more usable.

Our learning is documented in our floor book, we ask our families to see how the learning is unfolding and the joy and discoveries its bringing to our day.

EYLF V2.0 Outcome 4 (Confident and Involved Learners): Manipulating raw materials encourages sustained concentration, problem-solving, and curiosity.

On Monday we welcomed our local Paramedic Drew and Police Officer Aaron. The children were able to ask lots of questions, have a look inside the ambulance and police car and role play in uniforms.

Having these connections to our community secures a sense of belonging. It also creates opportunity to discuss child safety and people in our community that are their to help us.

A reminder to our families and those in our community- supporting our children in knowing the number to call in an emergency - 000 and their ability to know their address if a situation arises.

Thank you again to Aaron and Drew for making time to see us.
