Friday Flashback
Beatles fever did not just sweep the country, it reached the College too.
In the mid-60s, Jill Griffiths, Jenny Thomas, Susie Tindale and Neva Cullen captured the spirit of the era, proving that Beatlemania had well and truly arrived at Santa Sabina.

Calling the Class of 1976
Welcome to the Golden Girls and Boys Club.
We look forward to celebrating with you at our annual reunion for students who left the College 50 years ago or more.
Do you remember Dom’s Day 1976? Margot Sheedy reflected on this special day in the 1976 Veritas Yearbook.
"It was decided that Santa Sabina would celebrate this year in an unusual way, especially as the Dominican order had not long before commemorated its 770th year of foundation. Added to the traditional St. Dominic’s Day events were to be an historical cavalcade and a costume parade.
Under the organization and direction of a St. Dominic’s Day Committee, preparation for the day was commenced. This was by no means an easy job as old school uniforms and nuns’ habits had to be resurrected from obscurity, official flags and banners had to be obtained and two horse-drawn vehicles procured. To write a commentary on the day’s proceedings, Sr. M. Cyprian offered her services. She also took on the role of narrator. It was agreed that as befitting the occasion, students and staff should dress according to the fashion of 1894.
The day drew nearer. Excitement and anticipation mounted… Finally the day arrived. It was begun with a Mass held in the school hall, celebrated by a Dominican priest, Fr. Dennis Minns. The singing was accompanied by the school orchestra, which was conducted by Sr. M. Mildred. The Mass fostered a feeling of unity which prevailed throughout the day.
This was followed by the crowning of St Dominic. As is traditional the senior year, Sixth Form, were permitted to encircle St Dominic. The school captain, Jane Loth, aided by the vice-captain, Jill Emberson, crowned the statue with a wreath of flowers. The school song was sung, led by a rousing chorus from Sixth Form (some perhaps a trifle tearful) who danced around the plot."
We look forward to welcoming you back to the College on Friday 29 May:
