Our Meriden girls have just returned from an unforgettable Spanish language and cultural immersion tour, and the experiences they bring home with them are ones they will carry for a lifetime.

The journey took them through some of Spain’s most iconic cities. In Madrid, they explored the city on foot and visited the Reina Sofia Museum to see Picasso’s renowned Guernica. In Segovia, they stood before a 2000-year-old Roman aqueduct and visited the stunning castle. In Salamanca, they toured the magnificent cathedral and university before enjoying free time to take in the beauty of the city.

At the heart of the trip was Valladolid, where our girls were welcomed into Spanish host families for two weeks of daily language classes at the Casa del Español, flamenco dancing lessons, Padel, a cooking class in traditional Spanish cuisine, and all the joy of living and breathing the Spanish language every single day. They graduated with certificates and, more importantly, with friendships, memories and a confidence in Spanish.

A heartfelt thank you to Ms Curran and Mrs Kershaw for accompanying the girls so thoughtfully and making this experience possible.

As the Meriden Class of 2026 begin their HSC examinations, we hold each and every one of them in our thoughts and prayers.

At their Graduation Ceremony, Principal Mrs Lisa Brown reminded our girls of the qualities that have been formed in them throughout their years at Meriden; academic aspiration, critical thinking, creativity, resilience, compassion and integrity. Qualities shaped not through one single moment, but through thousands of ordinary school days that have formed the extraordinary young women they are today.

Mrs Brown also spoke of optimism and hope as the two great Meriden superpowers. Optimism is the belief that things can be better. Hope is what gives you the courage to act on that belief. In a world that can feel uncertain and overwhelming, these qualities will matter more than any single examination result.

We send our Class of 2026 into their examinations with the words of 1 Corinthians 16:13:

“Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong.”

You are ready. We are so proud of you, and our prayers and best wishes go with you.

Hearts to serve, hands to help: Year 9 Service-Learning.

At Meriden, we are inspired by the example of Jesus, who showed us that true greatness is found in serving others. Through the Service-Learning program, our Year 9 students are encouraged to lead with a servant heart, developing a deeper understanding of service, empathy, and responsibility.

During Service-Learning Afternoons, students supported Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms, joined in gardening, craft, and pirate games at St John's Preschool, and built connections with younger children at Chalmers Road Public School. For some, it was particularly meaningful to return to the classrooms they once called their own, gaining an even greater appreciation for the patience, care, and dedication of their teachers.

Moments like these remind us of the impact that even small acts of kindness can have, and reflect the generosity, compassion, and confidence being nurtured across our school community.

Our Junior School delighted audiences with A Hint of Snow White, a hilarious and heartfelt retelling of the classic fairytale.

Every Year 5 and 6 girl came together to tell the story of Duluxumbourg, a vibrant kingdom where Queen Malodorous schemes, Snow White shines and the Dream Team saves the day. From the forest creatures and fairy ensemble to the courtiers, cronies and mirror ensemble, every girl played her part with infectious energy and pure joy.

Productions like this are about so much more than the performance itself. They are an opportunity for our girls to grow in confidence, build new skills and experience the joy of working toward something together. It has been a delight to watch our girls encourage and lift one another throughout the journey.

Congratulations to every girl who poured herself into this production. A heartfelt thank you to our Music Department and Junior School Staff for the dedication, creativity and care they brought to every rehearsal and performance.

Our Kindergarten families were welcomed into the classrooms for Open Classrooms, and our girls were ready to share everything they had been working on.

Each girl stood proudly behind her diorama of an Australian native animal, confidently explaining what her animal needs to survive and bringing her learning to life for the parents and guardians gathered around her. The classroom walls were filled with work from across the term, inviting families to walk through and witness the curiosity, creativity and growth of our youngest learners.

Watching our Kindergarten girls articulate their learning with such confidence and joy was a delight. We are so grateful to every family who joined us for this special afternoon.

Year 11 student Amelia has recently received the Youth Community Service Award from the New South Wales Branch of the Order of Australia Association, presented at a ceremony at Government House Sydney.

This distinguished award recognises Senior High School students across New South Wales who demonstrate outstanding commitment to community service, leadership and initiative. Amelia was recognised for her exceptional dedication to serving others, her ability to identify community needs and her genuine compassion for those around her.

Watching a Meriden girl step into the world and make a difference in the lives of others is one of the greatest gifts our community can witness. Congratulations, Amelia. We are so grateful for the example you set for us all.

House Choral 2026 was everything we love about the Meriden community; music, spirit, and the kind of joy that fills a room.🎶

Each house brought their very best to the stage, with their House Arts Officer composing, arranging and conducting their house through weeks of dedicated rehearsal. The commitment, creativity and camaraderie on display was a joy to witness.

Adjudicated by guest judge Oliver Cameron, we are delighted to congratulate Cumberland House as the 2026 winners. Led by Arts Officer Chloe, Cumberland performed their arrangement of the beloved gospel classic 'Oh Happy Day', originally written by Edwin Hawkins and perhaps best known from Sister Act 2. Joy is one of Meriden's Fidelis values, and Cumberland brought that message to life beautifully.

It is with so much joy and gratitude that we congratulate the Meriden Class of 2026.

Our Year 12 girls gathered at the ICC for their Graduation Ceremony, a special evening honouring the memories, achievements and growth of their years at Meriden, and the extraordinary futures that lie ahead.

We send them into the world with the words of Proverbs 3:5-6:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

You leave Meriden equipped with knowledge, character and faith. The world is yours, walk into it boldly, and trust in the One who goes before you.

This is not goodbye. Once a Meriden girl, always a Meriden girl.

This Saturday 26 September, our Year 12 violinist Connie takes to the stage at Strathfield Town Hall, performing the full Sibelius Concerto with the Strathfield Symphony Orchestra.🎻

This performance is a fitting culmination of a remarkable year. Connie has won the Ku-ring-gai Secondary Schools Concerto Competition, attended the Juilliard School of Music's Summer Music Program in New York, placed first in the Any Age Violin category at the Sydney Eisteddfod, and completed her HSC performance examinations in Music 2 and Music Extension, all while balancing her studies as part of Meriden's Amadeus program, supported by our passionate music staff and flourishing music department.

When asked how Meriden has shaped her musical journey, Connie shared:

"Meriden has not only provided the incredible facilities and support that have allowed me to flourish to my highest potential, but also a warm community of fellow musicians that are equally as passionate as I am."

We wish Connie every success in her HSC examinations, and we look forward with great anticipation to all that lies ahead for her.
