Grade 3-6 headed off on a history themed camp to Beechworth on Monday. There was much excitement as they headed off. First stop was Kellyland at Glenrowan which got a huge thumbs up from the crew. It was a fantastic opportunity to see history come to life. They settled in at the Priory later in the day. After a great dinner they finished with a night of bush Australian bush music and dancing with Lazy Harry.

Gardening is always fun at Strathewen Primary.
Thanks to Isabella for gardening and cooking with our students- we all loved this weeks zucchini brownie! We are all learning to look out for our resident cheeky wallaby who loves to nibble on our garden and climb our stairs.

Another busy week at SPS with a visit from a past pupil who is training as a wildlife carer. She brought in two baby brushtailed possums to visit our students. They were so cute.

The last day of our intensive swimming lessons was all about water safety. The junior group practised using life jackets and rescuing a friend.

What a great time we had last night with well over 70 people coming along for the SPS Landcare spotlight walk. A huge thanks to Steve Pascoe who made it all possible. Thanks also to Landcare, the team from Zoos Vic, and Intrepid Landcare for sharing their skill.
We started the night off a with the wonderful team of Rotarians cooking a fantastic BBQ- it was delicious ! Thank you so much to Nina and her amazing crew from the Rotary Club of Kinglake Ranges.
We broke off into four groups before heading up the road with torches in hand. There was much excitement as we found possums and even a sugar glider in the trees not far from school.
Thanks to Jess and Aaron for allowing us to walk on their property.
It was a beautiful night in Strathewen.

Just a heads up - the police have just attended Strathewen PS- to investigate suspicious activity. 2 people on a motorcycle lurking around the school and running away when spotted. At 6.55 pm. The motorcycle did not leave the area via Cottles Bridge Rd so must have used School Ridge Rd or the Spur. If you have any information the Diamond Ck Police would be happy to hear from you. School CCTV footage has been shared with the police.
