Gratitude Dinner 2026

The Year 12 Food and Hospitality students hosted their annual Gratitude Dinner, a special evening designed to celebrate and thank the staff who have supported, encouraged and guided them throughout their time at EFS.

This year, students embraced the challenge of creating a four-course fine-dining experience, with a strong focus on intentional plating, presentation and attention to detail. Rather than simply designing a menu, students considered how each dish could tell a story and create a meaningful connection with the guest it was dedicated to. Ingredients, flavours and presentation were thoughtfully selected to reflect the personality, interests or contribution of individual staff members. Each dish had its own story and meaning.

The final result was a beautiful reflection of their growth, not only as young hospitality professionals but as a team. Throughout the process, students demonstrated teamwork, integrity, determination and respect, supporting one another, solving problems and working together to deliver an experience they could be proud of.

The Gratitude Dinner was much more than a practical assessment. It was a celebration of the students’ final practical at EFS, an opportunity to reflect on how far they have come and a chance to say thank you to the people who have been part of their journey.

EFS 7-12 Run Club has been "running" all year on Thursday afternoons. These students have been committed to improving their fitness and running ability and their hard work was rewarded on the weekend by completing the City to Bay event.

These students have shown dedication and determination by working together each week to push each other to grow and improve themselves. Along with running these students have improved their well-being and social connections making it an enjoyable experience for all.

Students will now turn their attention to the Ekiden Relay in Term 4 as they look to improve on their time from last year.

The National W**e Show is being held later this month and EFS is entering our 2025 Shiraz. These bottles will be sent off soon to be tasted and assessed by some of Australia's most respected w**e judges, marking the first time EFS has entered the national competition!

A big thank you to Mr Langhans for supporting students in this endeavour.

Royal Adelaide Show - Steer Team

With nearly 30 schools competing across 22 weight divisions, it as pretty awesome to come away with a ribbon for every steer we entered!

Congratulations to our incredible students, whose hard work, commitment and care over the past six months really paid off:
🏆 Watinga Bwuce – 5th in his class (South Devon)
🥉 Bottlesford Bundy – 3rd in his class (Murray Grey)
🏅 Kilkerrin Kenny – 4th in his class (Hereford)

We were incredibly fortunate to have three outstanding steers from Bottlesford Murray Greys (Koopman family), Watinga (Hagger family) and Bullseye Breeders (East family), and we are so grateful to our breeders for supporting our program and providing us with such quality cattle.

Gemma was selected for Urrbrae Handlers Competition, recognising the outstanding relationship she demonstrated with her steer. That relationship was certainly evident during Saturday’s Grand Parade, where Kenny proved to be quite the crowd favourite, with his “enthusiasm”.

Our South Devon and Murray Grey were also just outside the placings in the TFI competition, but we received some fantastic feedback from the judges.

A huge congratulations to our students. There is an enormous amount of work, patience and teamwork that goes into getting cattle to this level, and we could not be prouder of what this team achieved. Well done, EFS Steer Team!
