*** IMPORTANT SCHOOL SIGNS ***

*** RELEVANT OFFENCES ***

We are almost to the end of Term 2 in the school year and it is important to know and recognise the signs that are posted within the vicinity of a School.

Be aware of the 40 Kph speed zones and the times they are activated otherwise speeding infringements may be issued.

At a school crossing - if the crossing attendant steps out with the STOP sign - you are to stop at the crossing, failure to do so puts everyone using the crossing at risk, there is also an associated fine of $481.00 for the below offences.

** fail to stop at the stop line when a hand held stop sign is displayed or a
pedestrian is entering or on the crossing
** proceed after stopping when the hand held stop sign is still displayed
** proceed after stopping while a pedestrian is on or entering the crossing

The are also fines that are associated to the parking near a school crossing
such as $192 .00 to be parked within 20 metres of a school crossing and parking 10 metres after a school crossing.

Let's work together to keep our school areas safe for all of the Community.

With thanks,
Wellington Police

LEARNING CELEBRATION
Thank you to those families who came along to celebratethe achievements of our students. This was a great example of student agency in action. Students taught their guests how to play maths games, shared their artwork and read their writing aloud. They were terrific hosts, and enjoyed being in the limelight.

THE CUBBY IS OPEN AND IN USE!
Many thanks to Family & Friends for thier fundraising efforts. This allowed us to purchase, paint and stock our new cubby. Thanks to Sam for painting it! It is a very popular place to be. Foundation were running a restaurant that even supplied a delivery driver! It was so nice to have snacks delivered while we were on playground duty.

Ready, Set, Go! – Gippsland East Career Exploration Program for Year 5 & 6.
On Monday 20th May Amelie Boucher (Project Manager Gippsland East Local Learning and Employment Network Inc) visited our Year 5 & 6 students to start the Ready, Set, Go! – Gippsland East Career Exploration Program. We had representatives from Federation University and Central Queensland University come and workshop with the students about pathways into careers. On June 17th our students, along with Year 5&6 from Maffra and Bundalaguah Primary Schools, will travel to Federation University Gippsland Campus to explore a wide range of disciplines and career possibilities. The program culminates with a webinar for parents and carers, providing information on how to best support children and young people on their career exploration journey. This opportunity is provided free of charge to our students, as it is funded through the Regional Partnership Program.

At Stratford Primary we use evidence based teaching strategies. Spelling Mastery and the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness programs are examples of this. So if your kids are coming home using some of these terms, this is what they mean. Understanding how these work in the English language helps children become literate.
