Whilst we have a big emphasis on teaching our students discipline, instilling confidence and respecting each other through jiu jitsu. We also end our classes with lots of fun games!

As you can see from the organised chaos in these photos - this game is called ‘Human Tug of War’ 💪

📌 How to play:
- set a rope or belts connected as the middle line throughout the mat.
- divide the class in to two even sized groups, boys vs girls or coaches vs students (personal favourite for our kids)
- each side works together to drag/pull students from the other team across the line to there side
- if a student is captured, they now join that team working to drag more students across the line
- first team to capture all the students from the other team wins!

A great way to build grip strength, a strong base & finish the class with some fun by rewarding the students with the effort they showed throughout the session.

Give it a try in your kids class next time and enjoy the chaos!

Or better, try it in your adults class 😄 after all, the adults are just big kids!

Australian Nationals 2026 🇦🇺

3 competitors from Galeb BJJ Yatala made the trip to Melbourne for Australia’s biggest BJJ competition of the year.

Dave bringing back 4 gold medals with a dominant performance across all of his divisions.

Jaiden taking home double silver after some tough matches in his gi & no gi divisions.

Yuto represented us with toughness as always. A stacked bracket of 15+ competitors but was unable to achieve his goal of being champion.

We are proud of each of them for the example they set amongst our team. Hard workers, respectful, team first and overall high level jiu jitsu.

Congratulations to the entire Galeb BJJ association for their effort and success this weekend.

Bravery, courage & a never quit mentality.

That’s what we saw from our kids team who competed on the weekend. Stepping out of their comfort zone to challenge themselves.

Some became State Champions and some of them lost, but they all showed respect, humility and had fun out there.

Galeb BJJ isn’t just about creating champions who win medals, we are creating champions who win at life.

Kids who show up and work hard, help their teammates, respect their parents & coaches.

Kids who train on days they don’t feel like it, because they understand it’s good for them.

Kids who work together as a team and help each other when they need it.

Kids who respect everyone around them, because they care and have empathy for others.

Learning BJJ is learning skills for life and we are proud to have a kids program that instills these values and lessons in our students.
